No coincidence, Travis Schlenk, the current Atlanta GM, is a former Warriors assistant. I have no doubt he drafted him and the SG for this reason.

Enough Trae talk in here. Let's get back to comparing Luka to Lebron/Bird/Magic.....

And about how he really really has to do something about the FT shooting. Especially late in games. He is going to have the ball and he's got to be able to close games out at the line. This was a huge part of why Dallas was so good in clutch situations with Dirk. He was near automatic at finishing teams off at the line.

Really like the lineups of Kleber/KP/Luka/Curry with either Wright or Finney-Smith on the floor. Maxi Kleber is fast becoming my new JJ Barea while he's out of the rotation. His defense is an art form with his ability to protect the rim and switch out onto perimeter players and hold his own. Stunned so many guys still challenge him---you think word would be out by now.

With the Warriors collapse, it opens up a slot in the playoff race in the West, and realistically, it looks like Dallas is a strong candidate for that spot.

Clippers, Lakers, Jazz, Nuggets, Rockets, Blazers, Spurs are going to make it, imo.

That leaves:

Kings - awful
Grizz - awful
Pels - too young, Zion probably won't be rushed back etiher
Wolves - KAT + garbage = not good enough
Thunder - not good enough, looking like CP3 isn't bothered unless he's playing for a contender

It's hard to believe it, but it's looking like the only threat to Dallas are going to be the Phoenix Suns, lmao. They're playing way above their heads right now, but i actually do think they are a respectable team, although i don't know for how long is it feasible for Baynes to play like the GOAT and Kelly Oubre like an all-star. The Ayton debacle could come back to haunt them though.

The kid is just a monster. He looks like he’s moving almost slower than he actually is at times because he manages to get wherever he wants on the floor whenever he wants. And he always seems to make the right basketball play.

This guy has the It factor. I think he is a potential league leader in assists one day, he is throwing it around like Lebron around there

Happy for Doncic. You can tell he wanted to play well against his basketball hero (LeBron) last season but was too nervous. He finally got to have a battle and it was awesome.

That 3rd quarter last night was the best passing I think I've ever seen. I think he literally made the most optimal play on almost every single offensive possession. Just a clinic in dissecting the defense.

It was pretty ridiculous. He's one of those rare guys who passes teammates open rather than just passing to open teammates.

It seems like he does. I'm especially impressed with some of the little hesitation dribbles/hesitation fakes, or redirect on a drive where he changes direction almost patiently (where speed isn't really of the essence.....he's basically allowing the defense to move by, then going in the other direction). Those things are very intuitive, and kind of hard to teach. He seems to do it out of instinct, just responding to the moment.

If he starts getting better at D in the next few years then I legit think the sky is the limit. Right now he's being picked on in the final minutes. Offensively he seems to master everything. I can see why his favourite player growing up was LeBron. He has the same triple threat, has a knack for finding guys and being in the right spot for the rebounds.

Luka is amazing. As for his speed, one common misconception about him is that he's a terrible athlete. Functionally he's a solid one. When it comes to offensive athleticism, its most important to be able to get your shoulder past a defender so you can get to the rim, get open for a shot or get fouled. Then you need the strength the finish. He's got both of those. He's not a great defender, but I think he's got solid enough feet/strength/size to be a decent one.

To me he is an MVP one day and a perennial ALl-NBA First-Teamer in the making. Probably not this year, but he's got the juice.

Luka has it all, no player since Lebron has got me this hyped to see him play on a nightly basis. He's the real thing and he's here already. The next decade is going to be a lot of fun.

Of course, I don't think he's going to keep those numbers but (out of pure curiosity and love for arbitrary things), who was the last "white player" with 9-10 BPM in Regular season after 6 games and all the minutes Doncic has played? Love, Dirk, Manu, Nash? We have to go back to Bird to see similar numbers across an entire season.
He's surely on pace to become the GOAT european stat-sheet stuffer......(and I'm saying this with a smile given I love Doncic). It's really fun watching the league already trying to find countermoves to him, while last season it was him adapting to the league.

Jason Kidd-like playing style (same aesthetics in the dribbling, passing) with the highest functional vision, paired with great shooting in a 2m tall guy. Bird and Kidd had a son somewhere back in time.

I don't know, Giannis is a big stat-sheet stuffer too

I think the only thing preventing him from being legit threat for MVP right now is his conditioning.
