The playoffs are a crapshoot. Just get in there and see what happens. Pettitte and Clemens have pitched big games, and I trust Wang in the playoffs. But first we must get there. And it's entirely possible since we're only 2 behind Seattle with like 30+ games to go some games left against Seattle.

Clemens is 44 years old. This is not the Clemens of 4 years ago. He has lost velocity and is hittable Same thing with Mussina. In 2003, he was the ace of that staff and in 2007 he might not even make the playoff roster if we get there.

This team is geared up for another 1st round loss. Unless Hughes emerges the last month or so.

I know it is a small sample size, but in Hughes' 7 starts so far, he leads the Yankees in H/9 and K/9. Some may blame that on the bad pitching staff around Hughes, but his peripherals are phenominal for a 21 year old rookie pitching in the Bronx with a 3 month injury. Peripherals that good with an ERA that high usually points to some bad luck, which may or may not be the case. The league is hitting freakin .221 against him and his WHIP is 1.22, you don't see his type of numbers next to a 5.35 ERA.

Even Michael Kay said that Hughes' start in Anaheim was his most impressive other than his start in Texas, yet he walked 5 and gave up 5 runs in that game. I have a lot of confidence in Hughes down the stretch. He lets nothing bother him on the mound. As sad as it is, Hughes may be the least of our worries in our staff (other than Pettitte).

Whoever gets hot in the playoffs will win. Last year St. Louis made it to the World Series with a rotation of Carpenter, Weaver, Suppan, and Reyes? What the hell is that? Clemens can still get it into a 2nd gear at times, so i'm not worried. I don't think Mussina will get a start. Pettitte and Wang are fine. And Hughes just needs to throw strikes. His peripherals are still pretty good.

Melky Cabrera and Robbie Cano are saving Mike Mussina's ass right now. This guy is an awful pitcher.

Gotta love the defense. The Braves (well mostly Andruw Jones) and A's have been saving pitcher's asses for years. It's time we do a little bit of that.

Well when Moose can't get bailed out because Abreu looks like a 12 yr old in RF, he gives up runs. *sigh* Our offense is going to have to score 6+ off of Verlander or get him out of the game before the 7th to win this game.

BTW, this is an especially bad performance by Mussina if only because we have a big series with the Sox tomorrow and he is going to be out of this thing before the 5th innings starts....again.

abreu cost him at least a run, now we are down 3-0, we better hope verlander just falls apart or this is a shutout... Mussina can't strike anyone out, so every ball is in play and chances cheap ass hits like granderson and palanco got will happen...
