Smart is also tied for 7th (among 277 players) in assist-turnover ratio at 6 assists per 1 turnover.

Smart is a career 10 ppg at 37, 31% shooting and is averaging 10 ppg at 36,33% shooting. He is what he is .... a very important and invaluable role player. Capable of a great game against Bucks followed by a forgettable one against the Knicks. Meanwhile the stars....Walker, Tatum and Hayward must carry the team offensively every night.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Yep. So glad we kept Smart at around 13M per year and let go of Rozier at whatever Jordan is paying him. Love having a guy who knows/plays his role well who can start or come off the bench and impacts winning more than most non-stars. Bargain contract from here on out regardless of shooting %s.

Would have to include some combo of Brown, Hayward, Smart..

Just Hayward works salary wise. I guess it could be a good deal for us, especially if we think he is going to opt out and leave anyways. But if he wants to stay here it would kind of suck to trade him now just when he finally is playing well again.

Either way.. The Pistons won’t do it.

Another fun one -- entering tonight's games...

Celtics have the WORST offensive rating in the 1st half at 91.4 points per 100 possessions.
Celtics have the BEST offensive rating in the 2nd half at 122.7 points per 100 possessions.

This Celtic team is much better than the "experts" predicted.I think the east is wide open and the Celtics have a shot.

I hope they do - my worry is that ownership/Danny will trade long-term assets (the MEM pick, Williamses, Langford) for short-term gain.

It’s also only been five games, but so far we’re surprisingly good, Toronto is surprisingly decent, Milwaukee is surprisingly not invincible, Orlando is mediocre (that one is only surprising to me), and Indiana isn’t firing on all cylinders. Philly looks like a team we wouldn’t be able to get past in the playoffs. Miami is good but not scary, Brooklyn is scary to themselves.. I don’t think we could beat the Clippers, but making the finals in an offbeat year for the conference seems possible.

I wonder how many of our wins so far are because of good vibes - those matter, but if the honeymoon ends we could have a 1-4 stretch quickly, too.

No idea the trade market right now.

Thankfully it’s not the other way around.

Kemba or Brogdon?

Brogdon a little younger on a friendlier deal, probably more of a better fit in terms of running the offense. Not complaining but the extra loot helps get us a big.

Love Kemba and he's my favorite guy on the team but I still need convincing of the fit.

Brogdon also has a chronic foot issue.

Did we get any of this last year? Feels like the team is bonding and they don't hate each other. We might lack quality on paper but at least these guys aren't trying to murder each other. That can potentially work out well in regular season. How this translates in post season I don't know. I think this team has the isiah led team vibes and is definetely more talented than that squad. So we could be a dark horse for a deep playoff run

The irony here is that this appears to be in Cleveland, which, in reality, has been a giant escape room since the city was founded.

Jaylen's sick so he shouldn't be hanging out with the guys. Tatum and Hayward, who knows. Missing a night here or there is no big deal (especially when you have little kids) but you'd like to see them show up.

Entering tonight's games, the Celtics are shooting 23.1% on corner threes. That would be good for... *checks notes*... last in the NBA.

A couple of items from Scal and Abby's periscope:

Scal says Milwaukee is worse than last year. The East is better. Boston is better even without Horford because the defense is improved due to Kyrie being gone.

Abby says she heard Tommy is doing better and hopefully will be back soon, but didn't give any details beyond that.

It's called "the mistake by the lake" for a reason.

They booed Tacko there. How the **** can you boo Tacko?

zoyathedestroya wrote:Here's a dumb thing I'm tracking -- number of 25+ point games from players outside of our top scorer. I felt we've never really had legit scoring threats outside of IT, Irving, and to a smaller extent Jeff freaking Green in the Stevens era. This might be the first season where we have 3 or 4 guys who can score 25+ any given night.

Spoiler:
2013-14:
• Green - 13
• Others - 16 (next highest: 5)

2014-15:
• Green - 7
• Others - 16 (next highest: 5)

2015-16:
• Thomas - 24
• Others - 12 (next highest: 5)

2016-17:
• Thomas - 55
• Others - 8 (next highest: 4)

2017-18:
• Irving - 28
• Others - 13 (next highest: 5)

2018-19:
• Irving - 31
• Others - 14 (next highest: 5)

Three games in, we have one 25+ point game each from Kemba, Tatum, Brown, and Hayward.

Six games in, FOUR from Kemba and FIVE from others -- Hayward (2), Tatum (2), Brown (1). With Brown sidelined for the last three games.
