So what you're saying is this is going to be the worst class of all time then.

pretty high on him huh?

I mean what's not to love about a 20 year old freshman that has a negative wingspan, doesn't have a handle, doesn't have a jumper, doesn't facilitate and isn't known for his defense.

Stud!!!!!!!!!!

In an seriousness though. Duke doesn't have a 1st round talent on the team. That's saying something with how weak this class looks.

Tre

wasn't impressed with anyone else tonight tho..compare tonights Duke game with last year's opener tho lol

This class sucks tbh. I haven’t seen such little hype around a freshman class like ever

Next time people talk about how there's no way of even estimating how good a draft is a year out, this class of freshmen and the one before were both regarded as relatively weak when they were in high school. Zion propped the last draft up with his crazy freshman season, but so far in the NBA the same things that held him back from being considered the consensus top prospect in his high school class (conditioning/weight) have kept him off the court. On the bright side for this class, James "not a lottery pick because he's not a three-point shooting big" Wiseman has 20 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks on 7-9 shooting (with 0 turnovers and 0 fouls) in the first half of his college career.

who said Wiseman wasn't at least a lotto pick?

Stepien has him 16th, and you'll find plenty of other self-anointed 'draft experts' with him in that range. Even having someone who was the #1 recruit (and didn't get that ranking by being older or more physically developed than his classmates) ranked 10th-14th reeks of pure contrarianism.

alot of draft twitter has been down on him tbh

i mean I'm just saying where the narrative comes from

i don't watch high school ball so im still undecided on him, but he definitely looked like a lottery pick to me today.

i will say disagreeing with the consensus doesnt make you an idiot though

Cassius Stanley is an nba player. If he can be a combo guard or point at the nba level he’s a lottery pick this year. Impressed a lot by V Carey athleticism and mobility. This duke team actually fits together and has all the pieces. They should continue to improve. I think their weakness could be tre jones over valuing himself.

Anyone who’s seen him play wouldn’t be surprised at all by that. I’d expect Maxey to move into the starting lineup soon despite the lack of height.

Yup. I never really bought into the high school ranking with him. There was a reason I didnt look at him as a lotto pick, I just dont think he has it. To be fair I haven't seen any lotto worthy picks from the 4 teams tonight.

I'd definitely take Maxey in the lottery if he can keep playing like this

i like Maxey, have him 7th overall right now, but I don't think he's had a great game. most of his points have just come on FTs, he's been inefficient otherwise

IDK to me he's showed off his explosiveness and is getting to the paint pretty much at will this much is a good thing. Especially considering he had a below-average free throw rate in the EYBL circuit

His jumper hasnt been falling but i think with his touch that it will come eventually
