Exactly right.

Drives me crazy when I hear the "it worked last year" argument. No, injuries worked in their favor last year.

Last year was what I'd call an anomaly. The NBA's been around for close to 75 years. You mean to tell me just because the one time someone did something different and it worked, mainly due to a bunch of other external factors, that that's the new rule and way to manage seasons?

Nah, bro. I need a larger sample size before I fully buy in.

Maybe they should try using another reason?

lol. These guys are being paid millions and millions of dollars, fly around on private planes, have team medical staffs, chefs, access to the best the world has to offer and they need "load management" 2 weeks in to the season.

They are constructing a bridge on my way to work for the past 6 months or so. Same dudes out there every single day, sun up to sun down. In the heat, the rain, busting their asses for 50k a year. **** out of here with these entitled millionaires man.

lol. Clippers not exactly doing a great job adjusting to newfound celebrity. They've been craving this kind of attention and trying to control the media narrative. Guess what? You've got it, now.

If a player is injured fair enough don't rush them back don't take any chances.
Kawhi is not injured though and after the clippers 8th game he has already been rested for 2 games - that is why it is ridiculous. Kawhi is a low minutes high impact player (30 minutes per game) for his career.

Honestly the team and player should be fined. How is he getting away with this?

As a longtime basketball fan it's definitely frustrating. Being a professional athlete is sacrificing your body to play a sport you love.

I feel robbed as a fan when Star players sit out. I understand the older players who have logged a ton of mins. But not in your prime, play the game and cut the mins down.

I'm curious on when/what is the limit bc the door was cracked w Pop's load management, Kawahi has now taken it to another level and it what happens beyond that.

I don't understand the NBA scheduling back-to-back games for any great team against two great teams in a row (in this case Milwakuee, Portland). At least one of the marquee games will be of lesser quality because of the fatigue of team playing back-to-back even if all players are playing. So yeah, NBA's own fault. Spread out the marquee matchups (the matchups the NBA predict will be between the better teams the upcoming season) and you won't see worse games due to back-to-backs.

Then look at Joel Embiid, Bledsoe, Lowry, and Klay in the playoffs last year. Fatigue will eventually catch up to them if they don't take care of themselves during the season.

I understand people wanna say its "bad for business" but whats worse for business is injured players during the playoffs. Fatigue dramatically increases the probability of injuries.

So what about the other 70+ years of the NBA Finals? The mythical "fatigue" didn't catch up with Bill Russell, Magic, Kareem, Jordan, Bird, Kobe, Shaq, etc.

I've got 70+ years of data that shows load management is unnecessary, whereas people like you can only point to 1 year where it took an extreme rash of injuries for the Raptors to win it all.

Poor fragile Kawhi at the old age of 28 is fine though. LeBron at ripe age of nearly 35 clearly has no excuses.

Lebron did this every year 2012-2016

Doc conceding a loss to the Bucks tonight. No way the Clips can counter Giannis without Kawhi. I can see why ESPN is pissed not having this marquee matchup that only happens twice per year.

Yes, the NBA should change its scheduling to accommodate Kawhi's load-management days off.

The game is much more fast-paced now. Much more running up and down the court guarding quicker athletic players. But Kawhi really has a degenerative quad injury. It was obvious if you guys watched him play last year even with load management. He started to slow down and injury his good leg in the bucks serious compensating for the bad one. Cause the games were every other night and he had no time to rest.

He probably doesn't care this is the only way he can stay playing the game. I don't get why people are blaming him for a degenerative injury. Do you really think a player that worked his ass off to become this good doesn't slightly enjoy the game?

He has GOAT talent just his degenerative quad injury is holding him back. If you watched him at all last year it was obvious he really did have some sort of problem.
