Yeah, the building aspect hurts Fortnite for me as well. I know there's plenty of strategy and skill involved in it, I just find it a really stupid mechanic and zero fun to do. I'd much rather just be shooting things, but I find the gunplay somewhat off as well. The guns don't really seem to have any weight to me or something.

Playstation Now users can play Persona 5 and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. That's pretty solid.

Problem with the game for me as well. For a shooter, it's not great, and for a builder, there's far more intricate games out there. I realize there's a high skill cap in a game like this, but it does not appeal to me in any way, and I don't really think it's caused any innovation in the BR format, much less beyond that.

So I made a list of every game I've played I've played in the last 10 years (232). Whittled that down to the games I could see being on a list of my top fifty (62). Ranked my top fifty.
Folks,,,the Kingdom Rush series made the top 20.
It's a weird list.

Yep. I'm a competitive person, love that every game more or less means something, as opposed to kill, respawn, repeat (though the new COD is pretty good).
The building can get frustrating, especially when you run into someone super sweaty, but once you get the hang of it and keep improving (just spend some time in Playground mode building) you'll be fine.
I enjoy it just as much as I did when I first started playing, though most of that is to do with the new map. The new map is unreal.

Like I said, I haven't played it since it first came out, but I did enjoy it despite having no skill for building. I think I took 2nd once and finished in the top 20 a few times. But I abandoned it once the season started and I knew I'd run up against people who could build a fortress in seconds.
All that being the case it's a game I wish I was adequate at. Maybe some day when there's a big lull I'll do like you said and check out the Playground mode for a week.

I'd be interested to see the list.

Mass Effect 2 is probably in my top 3 tbh.

Gonna do a blog tomorrow with explanations and all that.
Here's my top five, though:
5 - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
4 - Borderlands 2
3 - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
2 - Fire Emblem Awakening
1 - Red Dead Redemption
Not terribly controversial, but I do have seven small indies in my top 20.

Really solid top five, and hard to argue. I think there's probably twenty or so games that could be rotated into any given top five and not receive any real backlash.

For sure. And I know there's been some wildly agreed upon classics that I never picked too.

Definitely want to read this as well. How did you figure out all the games you had played the last 10 years?

Wikipedia. Google something like "2012 in gaming" and you'll come up with a list of everything released by date.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
As it’s been touched on, the tough thing with lists is subjectively. My personal top 50 or so games will range wildly from another person. Like Borderlands 2 probably isn’t in my top 10, but is for ReasonablySober. I think that Polygon list does a pretty good job of displaying a lot of quality games for a very wide spectrum of tastes.

Agreed. Like I said, I don't have any real issues with the list at all (but LOL the comments wow). Anyone's list could look totally different. All depends on taste.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
Has anyone finished The Outer Worlds yet? I just read a Polygon article about how glad she was that the game only took 20 hours. I don't know how long I've played but I know I've blown past 20 hours days ago. I just looked up the main quest list and I'm not even half way.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
I missed a generation of games between PS2 and the PS4, so I didn't really get back into gaming until mid-2014. With that in mind, here is my list from the Last 5.5 years:
Honorable mentions: Mortal Kombat X, the FIFA franchise, the NBA 2k Franchise, the MLB The Show Franchise, Golf Story, Stardew Valley.
10: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
9: Super Smash Bros Ultimate
8. Celeste
7. Spider-Man
6. Zelda BOTW
5. Overwatch
4. Red Dead Redemption 2
3. Super Mario Odyssey
2. GTA Online
1. The Last of Us
I bought Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, and Dragon Age: Inquisition, but I never got more than a couple hours into any of them before getting confused/lost/bored and moving on. Perhaps I would have liked them more if I gave them a real chance, but I feel like the fact that I wasn't hooked is a strike against them in my personal record book.

Not playing The Outer Worlds, but hours spent on games is something that just fascinates me. Some people attach a dollar amount to them, some value spending large amounts of time on a game, some value brevity, etc...
My current opinion is the number of hours only matters once you start wondering “ok, when is this going to end?” and you then have to slog through something to complete it. So keep going so long as it’s fun, let the time melt by.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
Tried to make a top 5, but it's ridiculously hard. I'm sure I'm missing a few. In no order:
1. Halo 2/3
2. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
3. Overwatch
4. WoW
5. Zelda BotW
6. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
