“How many games we have left?” Butler asked. “Seventy-five? I’m willing to make you a bet that it won’t be the last tough shooting night that he has. It’s part of the league. You can’t make shots every single night, but you can do other things to help your team win.

Still a long ways to go in the season but Dragic has physically been better than I thought he would be. Game could age well

What do you make of Nunn, is he a point or a combo guard?kobewade11 wrote:Good leadership here from Jimmy, on nunn’s woes“How many games we have left?” Butler asked. “Seventy-five? I think he’s a combo, undersized two. Kindof like a better version of toothless tyler who I also didnt think was a point. What do you think?

Nunn is an undersized 2. Which actually is fine when he’s alongside Winslow and Butler. He does need to fight harder over screens though, Murray torched him last game (he wasn’t alone).
Interested to see how Nunn bounces back in Phoenix. We know he has offensive talent, but hopefully his level of play is sustainable. If he ends up purely being a bench scoring spark, we still have done well out of it. But the hope is he’s much more at this point.

Watch the driving lanes with Winslow in the starting lineup. Very difficult to get in the lane when your teammate's defender is also waiting for you in the lane.

Winslow averaged 1.5 threes a game on a 38% clip last year. He did that predominantly from the Point Guard position. He will be fine, dude just missed two games and was rusty against a very good Denver team, on the road, when we are getting pounded.
Let’s not overreact to extremely small sample sizes. Still feel Jimmy and Justise can work really well together, they both have missed time and don’t have a lot of experience or continuity together on the court. They’re both smart players, they’ll figure it out.

The only thing I'm mad about with Justise so far is that he's not taking as many 3's as he said he would in the offseason. If he's leaning to get there later on in the season, then he needs to pick it up

Nunn is his best while he's cutting and moving off ball, use that newfound respect to its' abject abilities. Good and hefty role for him, just keep moving

For sure. He looks more hesitant to shoot it than he did for long stretches last year. Think it’s mostly due to the lack of continuity with lineups and figuring out his spots etc.
I’m keeping the faith that he’ll start letting it fly soon. If the D is gonna leave him open, make em pay. He can shoot it.

I wouldn't put too much stock in this loss. We were incredible offensively every game except this time. Playing to the median.

I really like MOST of Winslow's game but his shooting is a huge issue. Yes he did shoot 38% from 3s last year but that number is mostly from catch and shoot wide open shots(nearest defender 6+ feet away), I'm not sure he's ever going to become even decent not wide open from the 3s and that will be an issue in the playoffs, especially if he's playing as a guard.
Just doing a search on BBRef (3+ 3pta/g and also qualify for the min in minutes required for a leaderboard), for players shooting less than 70% FT% there's only been 191 different player seasons who shot 36%(what I'd consider respectable for a non good scorer) or higher from 3pt range. So you can see there's not been many bad FT% guys who are also solid or better 3pt% shooters, so this hope that Winslow gets better shooting 3s is probably connected to his overall shooting which would include FTs, if he ever fixes that issue(maybe mental) both numbers could go up. Going even deeper in that 191 list, Winslow is at 151st and 171st on that list of 191 for TS% meaning there's only a few players with worse offensive efficiency than Winslow's who met that criteria. There are a few Miami player seasons on the list, Matt Giger, Keith Atkins, Billy Thompson, and of course Winslow on the list twice. LeBron James at age 32 is on the list but he was highly efficient shooting putting up a .619 TS% that season.
There's just not many players in the NBA who put up solid or better 3pt% numbers who are/were bad at free throws. There's actually a real reason for people to be alarmed at this big aspect of his game if this team is wanting to be a contender. Philly deals with this also with Simmons although he's much more efficient because of his around the basket scoring(which Winslow isn't good at), but the lack of shooting from him really does limit what Philly can do when he's on the court, they ended up having to put Simmons at the dunker's spot during the playoffs where his man just clogged the lane.

He has the type of athleticism where I think he can add more finesse to his finishes instead of going for the big highlight. Seems to get himself hurt a lot, crash bandicoot
