Before injury he was #1 in assists and #2 in scoring. He's still top-10 in both categories.

Hawks are absolute garbage without him...

Because he's defensive liability?

True, and he's also dropped to 16th in scoring after one bad game (and 9th in assists). Such is the early season.

More so, not like the Hawks are world beaters with him. Maybe have him in the top 10?
Edit : maybe even top 7

If we get to the playoffs he will have to be considered for the MVP award I believe.

I agree with TimO. If its between Booker and Giannis or Lebron its going to them over Book. But man Pheonix is off to an surprising yet amazing start.

And if this is actually sustainable and the Suns for some miraculous reason make the playoffs then it will be more because of their defense (currently Top-5) than it will be because of Booker. Right now it's looking like Giannis vs. the field. He's putting up absolutely absurd numbers and carrying a 12+ SRS team.

Similar argument could be made against LeBron in the early going. He is not anchoring anything defensively, but that is how they have won their games. The Suns have the 5th ranked D, Lakers first. The Suns have the 10th ranked O, Lakers 14th.

Not that these numbers or any numbers really mean a damn thing yet lol. We are still very much in the "this player is just off to a hot start" phase of the season. Gotta give it another 15-20 games (ie 2-3X the current sample) before numbers become meaningful.

I would say that Giannis will clearly be top 3 by seasons end (if I make a future bet its on him) barring injury (due to narrative as well as fairly sustainable monstrous play as he grows toward his peak as an already incumbent MVP). Nobody else is a shoe in for top 3 yet.

It's been an awesome start to the year for Booker and the Suns. As a Rubio fan, I love seeing the way that team is playing right now.

But just being realistic, there's zero chance that someone averaging 26/5/3 wins MVP in a league in which guys like Giannis and LeBron are playing.

I have a feeling by the end of the year this will be between Giannis and Harden again. Right now, LeBron and Giannis are my leaders but I can't see LeBron giving this level of effort come January as a 35 year old. He knows better than that. Philly will have a great record but Embiid will miss too many games. Same with Kawhi. Butler could honestly sneak into the conversation with the way Miami is performing.

This seems accurate, but I think Jokic will eventually work his way back into the discussion.

Barring injury, Giannis is gonna win it again in a landslide.

Had Giannis winning b2b before the season. Cant see it changing unless theres an injury.
