Why would the Sixers help the Nets create a super team
If KD gets healthy, we wouldn’t have a prayer of beating them

Both Murrays are imnteresting. The Spurs have asked for Ben before for Kawhii...but you just know he'd start shooting once he got there lol. D.Murray seems more like JRich replacement tho...and isn't exactly a killer from deep either... J. Murray is the perfect fit and Ben would fit great w/ Jokic. Probably the best target but it would have to come after both teams flame out and will probably require one team to overpay a bit.
Fox is a nice idea and Vlade is a bad enough GM to do it.
Yea J Murray is the most realistic scenario of the ones mentioned. Like you said, if both teams fall short of a championship, then both could look for a shakeup. They make the same amount of money. We'd have to be the ones asking for additional assets though IMO.
My question is, does Murray have as much upside as Simmons? Starpower trumps everything else, so just because Murray is a better fit doesn't mean he's the solution.

If KD comes back 100% (which I highly doubt), Nets would be a better team kept as is, getting Simmons and giving up Levert and Dinwiddie would weaken them.

Simmons will never have upside ig he never can shoot and its looking pretty safe to say he will never shoot. I bet his value is way lower around the league than most realize

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
Prediction: Ben will start shooting after he gets snubbed by the fans and coaches for the all star game. His vanity is clearly something he has long been concerned with (lack of shooting in pre-game his rookie year, cut up videos of him shooting with his skills coaches, etc).
I still wouldn't trade him if he doesn't ever improve on offense. I'm cool with keeping him in a transition PG, perimeter defender supreme, and Andre Roberson in half court O role. We can win a championship if he comes and plays D in the playoffs like he did against Russell and Kawhi last year. If, however, his D falls off he becomes pretty useless in current form in the playoffs.

Good job by Simmons. He knew couldn't cut it against the likes of gobert and jokic. Rest up Simmons and come back against the hornets.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
Honestly, I didnt think about trading him for the last 3 years. Not once. Then after this Off Season and all the moves we made, I started thinking about it alot. There just arent that many Trade Partners out there.
Jrue:
It doesnt make sense for the Pelicans, to pair Zion with Ben. Also it would be possible next year, wich means Jrue is another year Older. Not the value I´m looking for. If we could do it now, to win it this year, I´m all in though.
Booker:
No way the Suns Trade him. I think they wouldnt have considered it even at the beginning of Last Season.
Fox:
Maybe they would do it. But would Fox help us win a Chip this Year? Its not like he is a Shooter, just because he had a good percentage on a Low Volume. Atleast he is ready to shoot them, but Fox Shooting is rather similar to JRich. He can hit them here and there but nothing more.
Maybe down the Road, he can develop into a really good PG in this League. He already showed improvement as a PnR Ballhandler.
Maybe the Hawks could pair him with Trae. Do we need Collins though? We would need a 3. Team for that I think. Same goes for the Knicks, who really dont have that much I would like.
The Cavs and Hornets, would be interested obviosuly, but do they have something we could use? Miles Bridges?? PJ Washington?? Naaaaah. I like Garland as a Prospect, but he needs a lot more Time.
Is there a Trade with the Spurs to be made? I think Derrick White would be a perfect Fit with us. Derozan in a Sign & Trade for a reasonable amount maybe? He still is a good Scorer and a Shot Creator, that can also get to the Line at will. Dont get me wrong,
I´m not that interested in this One, but it could work out. I like Bryn Forbes alot and would also like to have Patty Mills with us right now. They have too many guards, maybe we can get Mills with Zhaire + Picks??
And yeah, I really like the Nets Trade. I think this would also be one of the better if not the best possible Fit for Ben. Of course they would need KD to be back and his former Self. Ben could do exactly what he does for us. With Kyrie and KD, he has 2 of the Top 5 Shot Creators in this League next to him to provide Offense.
Also with Kyrie at the Point, he could be involved in a lot of PnR and DHO action. Basically be a bigger more skilled Draymond Green. Our Problem is, we dont really need this Type of Player with what we have.
I think this would also be the right move for the Nets. Dinwiddie is already in a smaller Role than last year and doesnt seem that happy with it. Levert´s usage will also go down a lot, once KD is Back. They provide a lot of Value for them, but I think both of them would be underused. Wheres with us, they would fit in nicely.
The Nets still have Taurean Prince and they can resign Joe Harris.
I think this move makes them the best Team in the NBA. IF KD is back and his former Self.
I think we cant do nothing really right now, so we better just believe in Ben and support him! He still is a young Player with a unique Skillset and a lot room to grow. He still is one of us!
After this Season tough, we gotta take a hard look at what we have, and make the right decision with him.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
Fox is the guy I'm wanting In a trade...he's only 21 and is already a good scorer with potential to get better. If not him then Lavine is the man...no way Chicago turns it down. Murray is also an interesting name to think about. I guess the Knicks would bite in order to get a star but I'd need high draft picks plus some pieces like Knox amongst others.
I'm just totally over it now. I love Ben and like I said he lifted my passion for the sixers in his rookie year because he gave me hope. But these shooting issues are just becoming more and more draining. How do you go from shooting mid-range jumpers in your rookie year to not shooting at all two years later? It's just weird. Also the whole "left hand, right hand" debate still lingers on...i just want a guard duo who can shoot the damn ball...is that too much to ask for?

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
I’m not interested in trading Ben, but if it’s for Fox + value I’d go for it.
I think trading Ben really stunts our defense, which with the roster as is, is the reason we are one of the very few teams that can win a title this year.
Fox gives you a capable defender at the point of attack and helps optimize all the pieces you have offensively. And presumably you’d get another valuable bench piece or draft asset in a deal with the Kings too.
Fox is also an unbelievably high character person with an insatiable work ethic. You can find articles on his upbringing somewhere on the net.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
I don't think if you replace Ben with a less talented, but better fitting player that this team makes a huge leap. A guy like Jamal Murray would be perfect with Embiid, but I also think it lowers your ceiling, and I'm not sure that ceiling is high enough for a title (as opposed to if something eventually clicks with Ben in the half court). I also don't think you can just overlook the things that he DOES do well, as you'd be losing a ton on the defensive end and in transition in such a swap.
Regardless, Ben is ours, warts and all, and I think talks of trading him is an exercise in futility. He's probably got the second most clout in the organization after Embiid.

I know Burke isn't a true point, but I want to see him play while Ben is out. In addition to Neto.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
The defense would probably get better with a PG sized player defending PGs, look at the Jazz for example, they have almost no size with a tiny backcourt yet they still defend at a high level because of Gobert.SixthStreet wrote:I’m not interested in trading Ben, but if it’s for Fox + value I’d go for it.

Embiid is on par with Gobert defensively.

Ben Simmons is a stats guy with an emphasis on efficiency. He will never do anything that hurts his efficiency, which shooting outside will do.
Players nowadays are very conscious of their advanced stats.

Id love to know what all his missed layups do to his advanced stats then.

Nah I don't think that's his issue. If he was worried about stats he would actually look to score more... and gives up wide open layups at times. His problem is he doesn't have a scorers mentality and I am not sure he will ever get that... not at Philly anyway that are in Championship win mode.
He probably would have been a better player going to a team with no other stars and missing playoffs for 3-4 years... so he would have been forced to shoulder the load and develop his game. He turned up to Philly at a time when Embiid became the #1 in the team and very quickly other good scorers came to the team that Simmons was more than happy enough to feed.
I just don't think he is the right fit for this team... but then what team is he going to be a fit for without a jumper. None.

Would you trade Ben for Brandon Ingram? Ben has a larger sample size of better games than Ingram, Ingram has shown an upward trend since his rookie year. Sure Ingram is no KD on his shooting but he has a scorer’s DNA. Ingram also played some point for Lakers FWIW.

If you think Ingram can maintain his season's current ~ 50% clip from three on decent volume for the rest of his career, sure, why not.
