My snap read on Cole Anthony is that he's going to get drafted super high but actually does not have an elite ceiling.
He can score efficiently and with volume.
But he's not a plus playmaker, and he's going to be targeted on defense.
Among the perimeter guys, I'd rank Edwards and RJ Hampton higher due to upside.

I really need to read more about the NCAA. Why do the universities even need it? Why don’t they all just tell the NCAA to **** off and reorganize with a different set of rules?
The NCAA appears to me to be an organization with an incredible amount of power and money, that is just given over to them foolishly by the people who actually have all of the leverage. I don’t get it.
If the NCAA had a face, it would be the most punchable face you ever saw.

Strange to think someone with elite athleticism doesn't have an elite ceiling.

Being elite athlete while being good shooter and shot creator is worth being projected high lottery pick. Depending how you use it well it will make difference between being #1 or just one of top picks

Not sure why Anthony wouldn't have a very high - elite I suppose - ceiling. Scoring, athletic ability, defensive focus, drive and pedigree are all elite or nearly so. His playmaking isn't fantastic yet, but I have seen some impressive passes as well. His main issue will be decision making...that needs serious work.

His athleticism reminds me of Lavine until he jumps.
Still a really impressive young player.

I like how that kid James Wiseman plays ball. Love his awareness on the defensive end.

I'm not drinking the Lamelo kool-aid. Don't get me wrong the kid has a ton of talent but he's shooiting 33% from the floor and 19% from 3, he's going to have a lot of the same issues his brother has.
The upside is there he has chance to be something special but he still has a lot of holes in his game. His defensive instinct are better than Lonzo but he's lazy/sloppy on that end.

On the Lowe podcast, LaVine said Shaq was the best athlete on the team. A few others have said that in interviews too. I don’t think his athleticism raises his ceiling though.

Well he is not in the NBA because of his shooting. So you would be wrong.

I can report I went to watch Northwestern play Merrimac College last night. jNWU lost, was simply terrible, as MC had much better guards and offense.
My actual report is there was not anyone on the floor who looked to be a #7 pick next summer. If you believe my amateur scouting report, you can cross those teams off your list if you keep such a list.

Keeping Boylen does give the Bulls a legit shot at the #1 pick though. Something I didn't consider when responding to the "how long does Boylen have" thread. That alone gives Boylen institutional credibility with GarPax and Reinsdorf, a matching of philosophies if you will.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread: Bulls pick #7 (probably)
RJ got ejected within 5 minutes of the game last night. Got in a scuffle. Not concerned character-wise, but disappointing we didn't get to see him play.
LaMelo was awesome last night, put up 24/6/8. Basically played how he always does but he hit 5/11 3's. Still worried about his form, but his balance seemed better.
The other thing worth considering with Melo, is at this point, he doesn't know how to play without the ball - he just stands around. He's a savant with the ball, you'd want it in his hands, but especially at his size, not being a reliable spot up threat or an off-ball cutter is a waste at this point.
If we're mid to late lottery, I really love Isaac Okoro. He's got all-NBA level defensive potential. A good prospect to fill the void at SF.
Wiseman will physically dominate in college (well, not anymore), especially given Memphis pace/space, but as far as top 3 is concerned, I think he's drastically overrated. He's shown some better discipline than in HS though, imo.
McDaniels looked good, showed his tools. His rep is a bit of a talented underperformer though, so we'll see how he goes throughout the season.

A serious question, with Lonzo, Simmons and LaMelo the trend of not being able to shoot in today’s NBA seems a bit concerning no?
