Yes my hatred towards Minnesota means I'm biased but still....their QB had to play basically a perfect game and their defense got three turnovers and they STILL almost lost at home to, what I consider, an overrated PSU team (that was jobbed on a really bad offensive penalty on the two yard line in that final drive).
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Penn State was overrated, but MN is a little underrated here. They have a really good passing game. In their non-conference games that they almost lost, they pulled out the wins because they are able to throw the ball when they really need to.

And I don't care about a meaningless bowl game. Start Mertz against Purdue and also give him significant PT against either Minnesota or in the bowl game. That's valuable experience and he keeps the red shirt.

I’m just saying if Mertz lights up Purdue (Coan could/will as well), what do you do? You have 2, maybe 3 games left. And what if you go back to Coan and he gets hurt?

To me, it’s not worth the risk. We’re going to pummel Purdue anyways. I wouldn’t put Coan in until I am 100% sure I wouldn’t accidentally have to burn the redshirt via injury or, “you can’t bench him” (as good as that would be).

If Coan is playing poorly the next few games, I’d give Mertz a ton of time in the bowl game and/or Minnesota game as a, “alright, time for a change” thing.

Bucky 13 point favorites next week. Iowa opened as 2 point favorites, up to 3 in some places.

The predictive models are STILL treating Minnesota as roughly the 20th best team in the country. And yet if they win 2 more close games (they’re 4-0 in them so far) they could be the 4th playoff team at 12-1 if things break right. I’ll chalk Ohio State up as beating the piss out of them.

There's no way Minnesota is making the playoff with a loss. They'll take Oklahoma, Oregon, any 1 loss SEC team and maybe even a 2 loss SEC team over Minnesota.

The only way it happens is if they go into the title game undefeated and lose to an undefeated OSU team by like a FG.

That’s kinda what I’m saying but I think it could happen even if they lose by 20...but the committee would probably/hopefully take Alabama with 1 loss. It’s very possible that everyone else has 2 losses.

Either way, the fans I know are already looking at Pasadena. If they split Iowa/UW and don’t trip on their dicks @NW, they’re going.

Fun with luck and schedules:

If Minnesota and Michigan State played on a neutral field right now, Minnesota would be favored by about a FG, most likely. Michigan State is 4-5 and in in jeopardy of making a bowl game.

Above all, it will be interesting to see how Minny handles going from The Hunter to The Hunted.

And many of The Hunted have been taken down @ Iowa.

Also will be interesting to see a team that does not try a bunch of stupid corner blitzes like Penn State did that led to a bunch of the early MN passing success.

https://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/2019/11/why-ohio-state-rutgers-could-turn-into-homecoming-display-for-nj-quarterback-inside-the-matchup.html

KEYS TO VICTORY

Ohio State doesn’t show up: Hey, what if all the buses break down at the hotel Saturday morning? It would probably be hard to get another fleet of buses on short notice and it’s unlikely there are enough Ubers in the area to get the entire operation over to the stadium. They have to forfeit then, right?

The NCAA grants special one-day eligibility to the Rutgers honorary captains: It would be interesting to know what the point spread would be if Kenny Britt, Brian Leonard, Kevin Malast, Ray Rice, Mike Teel and Jamaal Westerman were all expected to play for the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers puts Flubber in its players’ cleats: Prof. Ned Brainard’s high-bouncing substance would allow the Scarlet Knights to leap over their Buckeye opponents and fly to the end zone. Ohio State can do many things, but it cannot do, or stop, that. Here’s a link for all the kids who don’t know what we’re talking about.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I know you want to be balanced, but Minnesota should really throw more. Their WRs are too good.
