Great game by Wiggins against Detroit.

He scored 33 points in 20 shots. He only scored more than 32 points in that amount of shots 3 times in his career with this one, the last time being in November 2016. He also has 5+ assists for 4 consecutive games which is new for his career.

Wiggins improvement is undeniable, he's just gone to another level lately - My only concern is the intensity isn't maintained through the season - Fingers crossed it is, or at least somewhere around this level, because it's just scary how good he can be when he is on song.

This is really something interesting to read five years later.....

In Andrew Wiggins, the No. 1 overall pick acquired in a package for longtime franchise face Kevin Love, the Timberwolves now have yet another chance to make a lasting impression. This has become the NBA's most delicate dance: a small or mid-market organization grooms a gifted prospect for greatness so he can prove himself to the league, all while trying to prove to the player that he should ply his trade in this place during his prime. It can become a balance between giving the player what he needs and what he wants, in terms of rules and restrictions, playing time and tough love.

At least in Minnesota, there's some precedent.

"There are things that we did [with Garnett] that were very positive," Saunders said. "My main thing, our golden rule, is that we give young players enough responsibility that they can take that responsibility and keep on improving. And if they don't, if they take a step back, we're going to take away some of that responsibility. Whether that's playing time, whether that's responsibility on the floor, what you're asking them to do, or whatever."

---
"As coaches, as organizations, the thing you enjoy is getting a younger player and being involved in his development," Saunders said. "Because really what happens is that you have a huge responsibility; those first two or three years you have a player, you can establish his mindset really for his whole career. And if it's the wrong mindset, he may never become the player that he can be. So as coaches, and as a coaching staff, and the organization, you have to really look at it that way. Not only do you have a commitment to him, but you also have a huge responsibility."

Wiggins has had a nice start to this season after years of being horrible. To prefer Wiggins to Beal IMO is not rational.

Kgdabom has bought the hype that some east players get from making all star in a watered down east, if he was a far superior player washington would not be so abysmal.

His and KAT mpg look good to me. I hope all these little things like new diet and medical staff will help to increase his stamina. He drives to the rim a lot this year.

Nah, Bradley Beal is the real deal. The issue is that he raises a ceiling substantially higher than he raises the floor of a team, he would be unbelievably valuable next to someone like Karl-Anthony Towns. Minnesota unfortunately does not have the assets to get him, but we might not desperately need him if Andrew Wiggins keeps balling out.

Wiggins has played 10 games at a similar level to what Beal has played for 3 years. I think it's still pretty fair to favor Beal, we'll see what things look like at the end of the year, but you have to expect people to still be skeptical about Wiggins.

Beal is exceptional but Wiggy has always had the higher ceiling. Will he reach that? No clue...but it's hard to deny his tremendous improvement this year thus far. If WAS called today and offered Beal for Wiggins, how many of you would decline? None probably, but how cool is it that we all need to pause for a millisecond when we consider how well Andrew is playing this year.

The #1 priority for the rest of this season should be to keep Wiggins engaged and playing at this high level, even if it means we sacrifice some wins along the way because it will be better for this team in the long run.

I'm concerned that Wiggins could go back to playing timid when Teague and Napier return. Saunders needs to make them understand that they are no longer the primary ball handlers / facilitators when Wiggins is in the game - they're playing off ball. If they are unable to do that and Wiggins goes back to being timid, I'm sticking them on the bench and giving their minutes to Culver and Okogie.
