Re: 2019 season speculation (Games 11-20 predictions poll)
If Washington continues to suck and if their front office is still pretty incompetent then I’d like to see the Suns try and get Thomas Bryant from them.
He’s a young big that dominated Ayton last season and would bring some much needed depth for the Suns.
Baynes is a FA after this season and turns 33 next month. Kaminsky just isn’t cutting it.
I’d also like to see the Suns experiment with Ayton at the 4 and Baynes at the 5 since Ayton has shown pretty good mobility in one on one defense against perimeter players.
Not sure what assets the Suns could offer but perhaps a lotto protected 1st rd pick + Kaminsky.
Not a likely trade especially if the Wizards are making rational decisions but I suspect their not.

Been thinking the last few days who would help the Suns more between Blake Griffin or Kevin Love. Due to injuries and contract, I decided neither.

Griffin surprisingly had a very healthy season last year playing in 75 games while averaging 35 minutes a game. His best season in terms of games played since 2013-14. He's also gotten a lot better shooting the 3 ball, which I never thought would happen for him. I wouldn't be completely opposed to trading for Griffin it all it took was the expiring contract of Tyler Johnson, Saric, and a 1st round pick. We can't afford to trade one of Bridges or Cam Johnson though. I would love Griffin's passing though, because that would give us another capable playmaker and in our starting five. Would be best to limit Griffin to around 30 minutes a game though.
I'd flip Saric for Kaminski in that scenario. Either player probably wouldn't be considered as more than an expiring contract and moving Saric to the bench would help aliviate the loss of our best 6th man thus far in Tyler Johnson.
Rubio / Jerome
Booker / Bridges
Oubre / Cam Johnson
Griffin / Saric
Ayton / Baynes
Not sure how much adding Griffin would impact us being able to re-sign Oubre though since he makes a whopping 38 mil in the last year of his contract.

I just dont see Griffin leading us at all. Dude is softer than Charmin.
I would rather run with what we have right now. Griffin doesn't take us over the top. I would take Gallinari over griffin if we had to make a move. I think lets see where we are come trade deadline! If we are still in playoff rankings, run with it. If we are 9 or 10 looking in , then lets see if there is a trade that makes sense

I'd rather fill the roster spot with someone that can actually help the team while Ayton is out. Amare already looked washed when he last played in the NBA and that was like three years ago. And no, don't give me this Big 3 bull when even their MVP Joe Johnson got cut before the season started.
I'd bring Amare back, have him work with Ayton on his aggressiveness, and I'd rather have him playing the majority of Kaminsky's minutes at this point, at least for the next 15 or so games until DA comes back. Then he's relegated to the bench as a mentor, spot minute type guy.
Are we seriously talking about bringing back Amare being 37 years old and out of the league for more than THREE years?
Amare is absolutely done. I was a big fan of him, I loved him, he is one of my all time favourite players, but he could not even play for the Heat in 2015/16. Just imaging that.
He can be a nice player on that 3 Big thing, but that is not true basketball. Come on, it is a different world.
We have Diallo waiting in the bench, he does not play at all. He is way better than any C that we can sign right now, obviously better than 2019 Amare or Faried.
Kaminsky is not shooting well, but he knows his role and he is defending/rebounding pretty well. He is OK as a backup C.
I am not concerned about our frontcourt, Ayton is coming back in a month.

No, ALWAYS injured, overpaid, no defense, one of his best attributes is passing where we already are great...too old. Maybe someone younger like a Gordon, but maybe more of a 3D guy....not sure who...but also not sure who we trade unless we give up picks.
Unless we fall off, I don't see a reason to not try and address in offseason and see if Saric/Kaminsky improve and draft development rookie, or even more ready rookie that slides (ala Draymond Green or Carlos Boozer).

It's actually tricky to make the salaries work on any Blake trade even if they were interested. I think it would need to be tyler, Frank, saric, and okobo. Now if they were simply salary dumping and would take that deal with no picks attached I'd consider it with the caveat that sarver would need to be open to hitting the lux tax if nessesary later in that contract as guys like oubre and Ayton need to get paid.bwgood77 wrote:Funky Tut wrote:Does anyone take a flyer on a Blake Griffin trade?

I say we focus on maintaining cap flexibility so we can re-sign Baynes this summer.
Baynes>Blake
So why add Blake?

Hi! Of course is not a star but let me add another name. Juancho Hernángomez. In Spain we know him well. He is smart,he fights, defends, rebounds and shoots quite well. His situation in Denver is hard, too many players on his position. He's only 24 and is very usable. I think with a little trust he could develope as a very good player. What do you think ?

Might be worth a shot, especially since they have Porter there. He showed flashes but hasn't gotten much of an opportunity.

Milsap and Ibaka will be free-agents this off season, neither should break the bank. Maybe Baynes AND one of them can happen.

If Baynes can play the 4.... lol
Gasol is also a FA (Rubio connection)

Re: 2019 season speculation (Games 11-20 predictions poll)
Gallo is still a better option if we MUST make a change at the PF position. $22m expiring is easier to match money-wise and if anything, he's a guy that will elevate Booker, Rubio and even Ayton because he's an elite shooter who will stretch the floor and won't force Rubio into a shooter role (like Blake would). He may not be the ceiling lifter that Blake in theory and I could certainly see a scenario where our team just looks amazing with a healthy and dominant Blake but I think there's real chemistry risks there and of course the financial commitment ($110/3ys remaining) is just a little too much.

Juancho is specially interesting me now you mention him. He shoots the lights out from deep, he is young, fast, long arms and good fundamentals. Plus he is cheap due to he's not playing.

He wouldn't play on the Suns. The competition would be even tougher here than on the Nuggets.
His primary position is SF, and we have Oubre and Bridges. 0 minutes there for him.
He can play some PF too, but he is not better than Saric at all. As a backup PF we have Cam Johnson who needs and deserves minutes. And Kaminsky (with Ayton back). He is quicker and a better ball handler than Kaminsky, but Kaminsky is better than him as a post player, passer and can play some C being 7'0.....Juancho can't play C.
So, with all that in mind I don't think he would be in the rotation.

I don't know. He's 6'9 and listed as a PF. He also has shot fairly well when he got minutes. It's just hard to know with guys like that. It would take good scouting of the games he has played in.
We really need to nail a draft pick, like Toronto does with Siakam and FVV or Denver keeps doing. Someone who is cheap, on a rookie contract and on a star trajectory....and like a late pick in the teens. Heck, I don't even know if FVV was drafted...he may have been undrafted. He's on fire this year. He's on my fantasy team and it looked to me from his numbers he was playing better than Lowry.

Why would they trade Bryant? He's like a cheaper Ayton? He was better than Ayton last year if you look at per 36....far better TS% or FG%. Block rate, similar rebounder. He's really good.
I don't understand when people talk about trading for Markkanen or Bryant or something. These things are not happening. Plus he's just basically another Ayton. I imagine Ayton will get a lot better this year but that's certainly expected. But Bryant at worst will probably still be very good, especially for whatever he is getting paid.
They are just young and have all that money tied up in Wall.

Yeah you don't come in and scoop up the good, young and inexpensive players from underachieving teams. Usually it's the high paid, not long term pieces that become available first. Makes no sense to "rebuild" by trading away those young studs

Yeah Bryant is good but that’s why I added the trade only has a chance if the Wizards are still making foolish trades which I think they are.
Trading Bryant for Kaminsky and a lotto prot 1st wouldn’t even be top 10 of bad moves they’ve made in just the last 4-5 years.
Obviously unlikely but yeah.
