We need to trade everything we can and officially bottom out
Blake Griffin would get us either young players and/or picks and Drummond would get us something good too. Rose when eligible for trade would absolutely get us something. Jackson and Galloway are massive expiring contracts.
Everyone says we have no hope, but we are really in a position to bottom out and collect a bunch of assets. We keep Sekou and Kennard and everything else should be on the block.
At 4-8, if things continue to get worse, it’s time to actually rebuild. Losing Drummond for nothing more will sting too. He has shown enough this year there will be a lot of teams interested. Blake Griffin will be highly desired also.
It’s time to finally do this right.

My hope, but I can just never see this happening under Gores ownership

100% agreed. Either take huge risks, and go for it, or blitz this sack of crap into oblivion.
Trade all assets for picks, call the pick back, he starts immediately, and keep Kennard. I'm on the fence about Andre. It's nice to have a starting point, but I guess I'm fine with pick collections.
One thing is for absolute certain;
You do this, you better get a high damn pick. #1 or 2. I am sick and tired of getting these 7-15 picks. You rarely if ever get a true game changer with these picks.
Next, you get BOTH people who decided that the Greek, and Siakim were going to be great players and pay them a huge sum to decide your picks. I doubt it was the GM's for each team and is more likely a scout that picked them out.
I want to as close to certainty as you can get if you do a true rebuild. No half ass BS rebuild. You burn this sucker down.
Next your going to HAVE to fire Casey. Bring in a development coach who isn't concerned, nor mandated to win. Two terrible seasons, grand total of 25 wins or less. This purgatory of mediocrity is maddening and I've had enough.

Ok, great plan. Now you just have to get Gores on board. Good luck.

Trade 1: Griffin, Snell, Maker, Brown for Whiteside, Bazemore, Collins, Little, 2020 unprotected FRP
POR becomes a legit contender with Griffin while keeping Simons too. We get their pick, and 2 good prospects in Little and Collins.
Trade 2: Rose, Galloway for Dieng, 2020 unprotected FRP
It's well known that MIN is desperate for PG help and Rose could bring that magic back there with a much improved Twolves team. We get their pick because we are giving up a very good PG and expiring and taking on Dieng's contract.
There you go. 2 good reasonable trades for our instant rebuild. We should do these Dec 15 so we have more time to tank as well. We would have a roster full of 1 and 2 year deals with several prospects and picks.
Next draft we select Cole Anthony for our PGOTF.
Next offseason we give Drummond 25-30mil/yr as our only big contract. Let everyone that is expiring walk, except for Wood.
Anthony/Bone
Kennard
Little
Doumbouya/Collins
Drummond/Wood/Dieng
I love the potential in that starting 5 with some very quality back up bigs too. I also didn't factor in POR and MIN picks and our endless amount of capspace to fill out the roster next offseason.
Thoughts?

I’m assuming you’ve done all the homework on salaries matching, so yeah, I’d support that. And it actually sounds pretty logical for all teams.

Well that would depend. Add Kawhi and Lebron and it might just work.
I’ve noticed your actually contributing a little bit to the forum since I made you realize you keep saying the same thing over and over, your welcome by the way.

Re: We need to trade everything we can and officially bottom out
Gore’s is coked up and has no idea how to hire a good basketball mind that can also really take the team better in the long term. Any sane basketball mind in the league would tell you we’re a prime spot to fully support a rebuild worth some assets that we have.

We are going to get healthy and finish 7th or 8th in the east and win our first playoff game in over a decade in a 1-4 series against Philly oe Milwaukee and ownership is going to talk about it like its progress being made.

Re: We need to trade everything we can and officially bottom out
I've never really talked about this much because realistically I can't see Gores/our FO ever doing this, so it's a moot point. There's lots of seasons in the past that I wished he could have actually tanked the right way.

Re: We need to trade everything we can and officially bottom out
It's tough becuase all these unbelievable players out there right now, Doncic, young, e.t.c. any of which could have been a Piston had the team dunked just one damn season instead of all these stupid ass 35 win seasons.MrBigShot wrote:I've never really talked about this much because realistically I can't see Gores/our FO ever doing this, so it's a moot point. I'm salty as hell about all of this horsecrap to be honest.
Nothing worse then sackless ownership. You either pay the tax, go for it and try and win, or you crash and burn to land a game changer. This really isn't rocket science.

Yeah I'm ready for a rebuild at this point, if we get a future stud or two in the draft, fans will still come out

Nah. I just like to pick my spots.
You can break your arm patting yourself on the back all you’d like, but I can absolutely assure you that someone who doesn’t know the difference between “your” and “you’re” has zero ability to influence my activities.
And no, adding Lebron and Kawhi wouldn’t make the Pistons a championship team because it’s not possible to add them. You can’t argue the “1-2 players away” angle while disregarding salary and likelihood. It’s the NBA, not Fantasyland.

But aren't we championship contenders?
