IMO who cares what Brogdon has done or will do for Indy. He was good for the Milwaukee Bucks and wish he was still on the Bucks even in the role he played.

I enjoy watching the Bucks and your amazing MVP. George Hill has been a favorite of mine since he was a Pacer. I always wanted him to be a bit more aggressive. Hopefully he has beaten the injury bug. This is building year for the Pacers. New teammates and reincorporating Vic back into the lineup. I'm interested to see how the East shakes out this year.

Posted this in the game thread but it fits better here. Basically Giannis wishes Malcolm were still a Buck but respects him for wanting to move on and be a number 1 or number 2 guy elsewhere.

I for one, can't wait for all the completely reasonable takes after tomorrow's game if/when Brogdon scores 20+ regardless of whether we win or lose.

“Can you imagine this team with also Malcolm?” Antetokounmpo said after the Bucks’ 124-115 victory over the Bulls on Thursday night. “But hey, man, everybody takes their decision. His decision was to go to Indiana and build a team over there. I think that was best for him.”
The framing Antetokounmpo chooses to use when discussing the move is fascinating. Although Brogdon essentially had no power in the process, Antetokounmpo described it as though Brogdon made a very conscious decision to move on from the Bucks. Interestingly enough, Brogdon used similar words when discussing the move recently with The Athletic Indiana’s Scott Agness.
“I had to figure out what my options were,” Brogdon said. “I had two or three teams in the mix that we were really considering, but Indiana was by far the best. It was the team I was really pushing for and my agents made it work.”
“I was happy, honestly,” Brogdon said to The Athletic Indiana this week after finding out about the sign-and-trade to Indiana. “It’s a great move for me. It’s a great spot for me. Milwaukee served me best while I was there, but it was time for me to move on.”

Horst is from the Hammond school of letting these dudes make their own decisions as long as there's something in it for the Bucks. Honestly one of the things I respect most about Hammond, even if it's not always the most on-paper advantageous thing in any particular case. It's overall a good management practice that facilitates a healthy workplace.

Nice to have some confirmation on this. Wish it didn't have to be that way but hopefully people can put the pitchforks down now.

Yeah I know we've seen "Malcolm wanted out" rumored for a number of different reasons since the sign and trade. This series of quotes by Giannis and Brogs is pretty much concrete proof. I'd still love some context. Like, no way do you want out of the city of Milwaukee, due to social reasons, and then choose Indianapolis as a more comfortable place to live. (Weather excluded) More likely, Brogdon wanted a bigger role, knew Middleton was going to get the max, and that was that. I bet he's still here if the front office prioritized differently.

Eh, I don't take that as confirmation that he didn't want to be here. Of course he's going to say that he was excited to go to Indiana and that it's the right fit and such. That's who he plays for right now. That's who he signed an offer sheet with.
He isn't going to come out and say "I wanted to stay in Milwaukee, but they wouldn't have me." if the Bucks matched his offer sheet, I'm sure he'd be effusive about returning to a title contending team.

wow... so basically a jimmy butler situation. except instead of wanting tougher teammates that can win he wanted a team that would be worse where he could chuck more. says a lot about him
for me it was always about the injuries but to find out it may not have even been that as the primary factor is eyeopening. thanks for all the cheap 2/3s of the season Malcolm and don't let the door hit you on the way out

I mean, to me that is operating in pure denial given those quotes. He literally says he was pushing for his agents to get him to Indiana and it was time for him to move on from Milwaukee. To each his own I suppose.

hasn't stopped the "truthers" on twitter who still believe the Bucks should've matched any offer and forced him to play here anyway.

Stick to "he's always injured!" as your one and only Brogdon dig. You're much better at that. Turning this decision into "Brogdon just wants to chuck" is flat out embarrassing.

It's certainly an argument you can attempt to make but in my opinion it's a risky thing to do and in general not the way the NBA is trending right now in terms of how teams handle these situations.

I am stunned to learn that Brogdon's decision was all about fit and situation had nothing to do with getting a few extra million dollars.
