Re: The James Harden Thread (2019-20)
It's been 12 games. Yes hardens on/off is huge right now but he's never maintained that over a whole season. Westbrook's on/off is usually larger in recent years
Yes it's context dependent and all caveats apply, but it's another data point. Hes shooting 33% from 3 and averaging 5.6 turnovers. Yeah it works in the regular season with a strong supporting cast like we've seen for 4 straight years. Kind of gimmicky.
What makes you guys think there's something different this year?

I'm not sure anything is different this season. For the Nth straight year Harden likely loses to a better team in the post-season while being a top 3-4 post-season performer.

Top 3-4 is a stretch considering his middling playoff efficiency.
But perhaps the warriors are always better (even multiple times without Durant) because curry is much better than harden?

Or Draymond Green/Klay Thompson were better than his teammates from 2014-2016?
And maybe Curry was better in the series as he had 37-year old Jason Terry guarding him?

Re: The James Harden Thread (2019-20)
I feel like Harden's teams are always destined to fail the same way that Wilt's Warriors teams were destined to fail and for similar reasons.

And last year when Durant got hurt and the rockets were favored and still got smoked?
How high do you rank Klay and Green? Because even without Durant they had far more success than the harden led rockets ever have

Re: The James Harden Thread (2019-20)
Yes because Westbrook usually has garbage backups on the second unit. This year he is the garbage second unit. I'm sure he'll turn it around somewhat but he's been impressively terriblethekdog34 wrote:It's been 12 games. Yes hardens on/off is huge right now but he's never maintained that over a whole season. You mean Durant played 5 games and they were up 3-2.
So now you are judging Harden on a one game sample where his team lost.

Judging Harden for his overall struggles in the playoffs is fair, but Mr. KDog always takes it too far with HardenColbinii wrote:thekdog34 wrote:Colbinii wrote:Or Draymond Green/Klay Thompson were better than his teammates from 2014-2016?

Of course he does but we all have our own insecurities. Some of us choose to voice them on a public forum.
Maybe it's a public ask for help?

James Harden has 38 points on 34 shots.
Look at him minimize Ben Mclemore, Isaiah Hartenstein and Austin Rivers.

When Kobe takes 50 FGA to score 60 points, he's the GOAT, when Harden does it, he's minimizing everyone.

Difference is that Kobe did this in the last NBA game of his life

Re: The James Harden Thread (2019-20)
Anyone seen the Doncic vs Harden playoffs comparison thread on the GB?
Before today I didn't believe that Harden was that hated on this board but now I do. He's second to none among most hated players at the moment.

It was actually 2-2. Durant got hurt in game 5 when the warriors were up 3 in the third. Harden sucks at the end of that one too.
It's not a one game sample. He's pretty consistently mediocre in the playoffs

Mediocre for an all-time great? Sure.
Doesn't change the fact that his team has lost to simply better teams for the most part.

The reason the warriors and Spurs were better is Curry and Kawhi are better than Harden

Sure. And none of that takes away from the greatness of Harden.
