Bill Russell Accepts Hall Of Fame Ring After 44 Years

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Nov 16, 2019 5:33 pm

Bill Russell accepted his Basketball Hall of Fame ring in a private ceremony on Friday.

The 85-year-old Russell didn't attend his induction ceremony in 1975, saying that he felt he didn't deserve to be the first black person inducted.

"I felt others before me should have that honor," said Russell, mentioning Chuck Cooper. Cooper was also inducted this year.

The ceremony was attended by former NBA players Bill Walton and Alonzo Mourning.

Bill Russell, a man among men! A true hero. Someone that everyone should look up to. Back when professional basketball was played by real professionals. Very few of them ever come along now-a-days, in any sport. Especially in the age of Kaepernick and James.
