If they win then how does that wealth tax effect sports and our Orlando Magic? Ballmer has danced around it, but basically said he would be forced to sell the Clippers if she is president. I think those policies effect both Democrat and Republican fans and is worth a discussion.

Sanders and Warren are not “likely to be the nominee” at this point. Frankly, no one can claim that yet. They both have extreme policies which aren’t exactly loved throughout their own party.

Your sweeping assumptions are misleading and dangerous.

Dude relax—Merrick has kept he entire discussion about a common policy that two candidates (that lead or are front runners in a lot of polls) champion.

What is “dangerous and misleading” about saying they’re the most likely candidates? The policy being discussed here is also a strong movement within the party.

Honest questions:

1) how many people have become president after at least one (if not two or three) failed prior presidential campaigns? Better yet, failed run at their party nomination.

2) go back and compare the big ticket items on on the campaign trail to what actually gets done in office. Getting elected is Step 0.0.1 of actually getting anything done.

Yet people (on all sides) like to push a narrative that this person or that person is a lock to win and the world will end. We hear it every **** election. It’s pathetic. They are pathetic.

I'm sure I know much less about politics than most 32 year olds and most in here.

But people really think Biden will be the democratic nominee? I see him always leading in polls and wonder how in the world... I guess I've heard people complain about "old white men" for the past 3 years so much that I thought there's no chance for him. Especially when he doesn't even remember what state he is in. Yet I see him and Bernie always atop of the poll (though I can see more reasons to vote for Bernie).

Anyway, I like Tulsi + Yang the most on that side of the political spectrum. They seem the most genuine at least.

Really curious if Trump wins again.

The Dow has came a long way since Bush left office at 7500. I heard it broke a record high like 120 times under Obama and like 80 under Trump already.

Why do people correlate the presidency so closely with economic health or decline?

Trump didn’t turn the economy around.

Meanwhile, we in finance have been predicting and bracing for another recession for a while not. The reserve keeps adjusting interest rates to hold it off but the economy is stalling despite their best efforts. A recession is coming. ... and it will NOT be Trumps fault.

I’m not defending or attacking Trump. I’m explaining that he has far less to do with the economy than people say. It’s easy to use this for yourself or against your opponent and people eat it up but it has almost no grounds whatsoever.

It was around 20000 when he was sworn in, it was trending up.

Hanging your hat on the economy is risky with the high chance of a recession in the next couple of years.

Respectfully there are plenty of sites that focus on politics. Unless this is about basketball, even tangentially, can we politely ask that these sorts of thoughts lines are transitioned to an appropriate forum?

add to the fact, decrease in corporate taxes and the rich, which resulted in about a $1billion shortfall of income from the government thru less taxes that, surprise, was NOT reinvested into the economy.

You would think that all the money that college sports make would make college much more affordable. Crazy.
I've always wondered why the cost keeps going drastically up...when I heard how much my grandparents and parents education cost, my jaw hit the floor. I wouldn't be opposed to public universities that accept public grants being forced to subsidize and lower the costs for their students. Discussion for another day.

Tuition has gone crazy because of government backed loans, when you tell colleges we got you no matter what they will continue to jack up prices. Now people have to get these loans and the cycle continues.

Plus too many people die early because they don't feel like they can afford to go to the doctor.

People probably need to be reminded what it is like to live under a more authoritarian government where there is high regulations, high taxes, less jobs and less money.

I'm going to nix this now before it gets worse, because I already see some small comments heading that way. The discussion has been mostly positive, so I thank you guys for that, but there has always been a rule against political discussion on the forum since it gets people in trouble.
