Re: Frank Thread 3: FIBA Frank Aftermath
The offense still not starting PG worthy. I think he could be a 2G or SF starter with a quality PG starting.
He should definitely be getting 30 minutes a night on defense alone.

Re: Frank Thread 3: FIBA Frank Aftermath
From the latest KFS Newsletter:
The numbers more than back up what is being seen by those of us who choose to use our eyes. According to Cleaning the Glass, the Knicks score 5.8 more points per 100 possessions and give up 5.7 fewer when Ntilikina is on the court. The resulting plus 11.5 total is easily the best among Knicks who have seen at least 150 minutes.
When Frank is on the court, the other four defenders know that if they can just do their job, there’s a good chance they won’t have to worry about cleaning up someone else’s mess. As a result, opponent free throws decrease by 7.8 freebies per 100 possessions when Ntilikina is on the court, which is in the 92nd percentile league-wide.
Instead of fouling, Frankie Smokes is swiping to the tune of 2.2 steals per 36 minutes, fifth among 149 NBA players who have seen at least 300 minutes of action. The four ahead of him? Those would be Jimmy Butler, Ben Simmons, Jrue Holiday and Chris Paul. In other words, We Made It Fam.
He also knows when to push the pace. With Ntilikina on the court, the Knicks are scoring 4.8 more points per 100 possessions on transition plays (counting off of steals and live rebounds), which is in the 96th percentile (fun fact: best Knick for this stat? Bobby Portis, who has been a transition demon to the tune of +8.2 ppp/transition. Run, Bobby, run!)
When the Knicks offense slows down? Frank is still helping there too. The Knicks assist percentage is 57.5 with Ntilikina on and 51.2 when he’s off, the difference between the 18th and 29th ranked teams in that category. For whatever he takes off the table individually, he adds in a team context.
Oh…and he just turned 21.

With a messed up lineup made up of new players that has poor spacing. This is just the beginning for Frank. He's on his way now. Wait till he learns how to score once he's in the lane and he starts knocking down these easy chip shots he's been just missing.

He's showing flashes here and there of moves that he should make more often, I feel like we could see a big game scoring game from him soon and hopefully he builds off it once it happens.
He's starting to look good in the PnR, and he doesn't turn the ball over.

As soon as Payton gets back, Frank will start to fade from the starting lineup. Fizz doesn't know good from bad.

That's the big thing right now. Just (1) run the offense smoothly, i.e. minimal turnovers, and get his teammates the ball in the right place at the right time, (2) hit his open shots, (3) be aggressive to the rim and take smart shots.

So it is the difference between a playoff team and a leader of tankathon, wow.
Are you fans of the team or the player?

B-b-b-b-but dunks!!!
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Not surprised. Just like last year when Frank/Dot/Mitch were part of every good lineup we had. Fiz just doesn't recognize what works well. Take that for data!

Re: Frank Thread 3: FIBA Frank Aftermath
Magic Johnson is my favorite player all time and I believe the greatest PG to ever play in the NBA. He wouldn't do so great in this offense considering he would be relegated to dump off passes the moment he crosses half court. How can he have an impact offensively if every time he crosses mid court he's essentially dumping the ball off?
I don't care what PG plays here and how "elite" they are- if this is the system we are going to run than no PG will have success here. The whole league plays pick and rolls and pick and pops. From Lillard to Curry to everyone else in between, that's how they get room to maneuver/operate and that's how they get other players on offense involved.
I have no problem saying Frank has zero future as a PG for this team IF he was allowed to actually orchestrate an offense. If we actually ran the PnR- a simple play that's run ad nauseum by the rest of the league- and he wasn't able to execute that play- I'd fully give up on him as a potential playmaker.
I don't even have to look at advanced statistics to corroborate what I already know- we run the least amount of PnR's in the entire league. No PG is going to be able to maximize their talent here if this is the antiquated system we rely on.

Not after I leave some liquid soap on the floor outside of Payton's apartment.

Frank is perfect for this kind of system. Phil drafted him to be a triangle PG.

IMO, with the exception of Randle, Fiz will not play politics and do whatever he thinks puts the best product on the floor at this point.
We may not agree but I do think Frank is a fixture until somebody knocks him off.

Should Fiz play Frank or ensure his own demise?
