One down, 5 to go!

The respect IND and Dal get is insane! I like Indy but are they really that good?! and to be favored against us?

I'm pretty sick and tired of every Raptors fan who comes into every thread related to the Celtics to chime in with the "They've played a weak schedule so far and haven't beaten anyone yet! Sure, they beat us, but we outshot them and the refs screwed us! Pay attention to my team!!!". Every thread on the GB.

My solution - for every post I see like that, I'm always going to chime in with the "Yeah, we haven't beaten any good teams other than Milwaukee, so let's wait and see".

Can't have it both ways. Either you give us credit for beating you, or you flat out admit that your team isn't very good.

Phoenix got Celtics on back end of back to back at home. They themselves had a game the next night on road so we’re highly motivated to beat the C’s. The Celtics crushed them. I think that is a more impressive win than beating Raptors at home.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

This season is tricky.. I thought Kemba was signed to be training wheels for Brown and Tatum- but even if they’re not Kawhi/George yet, they’re ahead of schedule- not consistent or finished products, but good enough to help win games.. add a surprise bounce back from Hayward, and Kemba being a slightly less talented but more effective Kyrie.. if we’d been able to pull off a Kyrie sign and trade and kept Baynes and Horford, I’d have us as favorites in the East..

I see a few options:

A. Treat this as a developmental year going well, hope for luck with mid season buyouts (Baynes and Ibaka, after trades, would be the ideal), and let the chips fall..

B. Go all in this year, maybe with a Hayward trade but more likely with some combination of Theis/Kanter/Poirier, Langford, Edwards or Williams, and 1sts up to the Memphis pick for an impact big.

C. Trade Hayward to manage the cap sheet and set up long term success around Brown and Tatum by bringing in younger, cheaper upside players.

D. Some combination of B and C, moving Hayward to a contender or near contender (Portland, Denver, Miami, Orlando, San Antonio, Houston, Indiana) in a multi-team deal for a combination of assets - e.g. Aaron Gordon, Capela, Myles Turner, Bamba, Fultz, Steven Adams, Justise Winslow, Michael Porter Jr., Jusuf Nurkic, Nas Little, Anfernee Simons, etc.)

Just stay away from LaMarcus Aldridge

Ice cold mode: with the 2020 draft having so much point guard talent, and Smart emerging as a competent starting-caliber point guard, the move would be to send Kemba to a desperate Orlando Magic and loot them for Gordon/Fultz/Bamba or Fournier/Fultz/Isaac..

MEM pick for Isaac could be feasible this offseason, too..

I saw reload talk about this on the GB but apparently Bogut said the Celtics reached out to him about joining for the end of the season?

Apparently it was on the Locked on Bucks Podcast, yesterday.

For me he's the perfect after deadline pick up. Drop green, pick up Bogut. He can defend guys like AD and Embiid and finishes at the rim when needed. He played good last year in the finals, and for the Aussies.

Can we bring Tacko in for a few games already? Any math guys here? How statistically important is winning the opening tip? Find 3 games where the other teams don't have a great center, bring in Tacko and let him start. Win the tip and have a plan to if possible go to him. Hime him a try or 2. When he messes up throw in Thies at the 10 minute mark. If he converts let him play longer. It's not like we ever do well in the first few minutes anyways.

I imagine there is basically zero correlation with winning the opening tip. The other team starts with the ball in the second and third if you win the tip. I guess you do potentially get one extra possession in the fourth quarter as opposed to the second and third, which has value, though.

Winning the opening tip in OT is extremely valuable, however. Getting one extra possession in a five minute game is massive. So yeah, bring up Tacko for games that project to go to OT. Tip, possession, timeout and bring a better player in.

Of our 14 games, it's only been four instances where the team who won the opening tip and scored on the 1st possession ended up winning the game. I don't think there's any correlation at all.

We're shooting 28.7% from 3 in the 1st quarter as compared to 44.1% in the 4th quarter on about the same number of attempts. My suggestion would be to shoot better? Hayward will help to jumpstart our offense (and improve our late-game execution) once he's back.

I am watching the Ron Artest documentary for about the 3rd time and every time I see it, I always think about Smart. Smart is from that same cloth, everything people described Artest as, could fit Smart like a glove, mostly on the court but also some striking things off the court. I think MAYBE with more help surrounding these guys and more acceptance that people aren't simply "crazy," that Smart has received real help for his mental health and he won't fully destruct as Artest did. I see Smart still has his little blowups every now and then but he has matured so much over the last couple of seasons. I'm proud of him.

It was last year... we were very close so I wouldn't be surprised if we reached out again and tried again.

I don't think we'll contend this year anyway so he might go and join a contender over us.... but would be stoked if he did come onboard, great learning for Williams x 2

We also had strong interest in 2017 but then he signed with the Cavs then broke his leg soon after.

Not sure I agree with that last part anymore. Get another big wing type for depth / Giannis fouls and Bogut (or other C depth) and we could very well make the Finals.

That would be a steal for the Celtics. My God defensively this team would be insane with Jonathan Isaac. I assume that is who you are talking about. I don't see any reason why Orlando would do it though. He is their best future prospect. They would let Gordon - who I rate highly and believe is misused there - go before Isaac.

They’ve got Isaac, Aaron Gordon and Aminu at the 3.5-4 - I’m imagining a scenario where we have a mid-lotto pick (or higher - if Memphis wanted to convey the pick this year to resolve the obligation and it were in Boston’s interests) and there’s a quality backcourt player available .. it’s not a high probability scenario, but it’s possible.
