I really don't think we win. Maybe play competitively for the 1st half and then lose the game in the 3rd or 4th qtr. Miami is playing really well. Lineups I will leave to Ducler who is the guru with that.

Let's see what happens

There's never been two consecutive games where LaVine takes a backseat and plays largely off ball.

Not holding my breath this time either.

Expect the Bulls to lose by about 30, but this is the type of game they need to win to instill some genuine hope that they can turn things around. They need to beat a team that just doesn't completely suck ass.

Doug, by 30? I was hoping the meltdown would only be a 15-20 point deficit.

Wasn't a serious number I put thought into. I really just meant that I don't expect a competitive game.

Fairly amazing how Riley, Spo and the Heat can't be kept down too long and seem to always bounce back to be competitive/respectable.

Quite a contrast in organizations. I've never been a Heat, Riley or Spo fan, but credit where it's due, while the Bulls organization appears to have a long way to go.

This Heat team could beat us without Jimmy Butler. They have so many guys averaging points in double figures (7), so they're getting contribution across the board, not just from their top players. They lead the league in FG% and Steals (yes, even better than us), and they're #3 in defensive rating. So it is possible to generate a lot of steals without compromising your defense. They have 2 guys in the top 10 in steals in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, so I expect a little more turnovers than usual from Zach and WCJ, especially when these two try to pass to each other in traffic. In terms of individual Defensive Rating, 14 of their guys have lower DRtg numbers than 10 of our players so they individually play great defense there (speaking of which, how the heck does Lauri have a 105 DRtg - 3rd highest on the team behind Shaq and Dunn?). Maybe these numbers are baloney.

They're #2 in 3P%, and top 10 in assists, free throw attempts, and 3 points made. Their bench doesn't play a lot of minutes (about league average), but they do shoot a lot of 3s and can score in a hurry. They're not a great rebounding team though, which in this case is basically a wash since we're terrible in that department also.

They kind have had a cupcake schedule so far, but they've been able to beat the bad teams consistently (how nice). They've had a couple impressive wins including a gutsy OT performance against the Bucks in Milwaukee without Jimmy and a blowout win against Houston. In 2 of their 3 losses, they failed to score 90 points. They have guys like Robinson, Nunn, Dragic, Herro, and Olynyk who can absolutely kill you from deep, so it's imperative that we stick to these guys at the 3pt line. Their starting lineup and bench unit are pretty balanced in terms of 3pt shooting and inside scoring.

Lauri has a low DRTG cause he's been playing good defense outside of rim protection. People only focus on the low lights when he gets beaten off of drives when trying to protect the rim (10-20% of the possessions). Lauri usually stays in front of his man and is able to get a good shot contest. The poor rim protection comes back to the point that he isn't a center!!!

They refuse to tank. Some organizations just won't throw games. I like those places, and I hope that their teams succeed.

If Lauri keeps on improving on his performance from last game we could win this game. We need both Lavine and Lauri to have good games. I hope that Harrison starts this game he provides a lot of energy that's needed in the starting unit.

The Heat will probably win this one. I just want to see good quality play from the Bulls. Hopefully Lauri can string a few good games together to build some confidence.

But hasn't MIA more or less been in the dreaded "nba hell" of being a middle to low seeded playoff team most of the time, even since James and Wade left? Isn't this what you want to avoid at all costs? Do you really see this MIA team as a serious contender to win it all?

I don't think what they've been doing since James left has been that remarkable. They have a few good players, and build around them with good role players. Good enough for 40-45 wins or so, and a first or second round exit in the playoffs.
