Quite a contrast in organizations. I've never been a Heat, Riley or Spo fan, but credit where it's due, while the Bulls organization appears to have a long way to go.
But hasn't MIA more or less been in the dreaded "nba hell" of being a middle to low seeded playoff team most of the time, even since James and Wade left? Isn't this what you want to avoid at all costs? Do you really see this MIA team as a serious contender to win it all?
I don't think what they've been doing since James left has been that remarkable. They have a few good players, and build around them with good role players. Good enough for 40-45 wins or so, and a first or second round exit in the playoffs.
Miami has averaged 41.8 wins per season for 5 seasons since they lost Lebron.
Bulls averaged 45 wins per season for 5 seasons since Rose tore his ACL.
So both teams more or less performed the same after losing their star.
Getting Jimmy was a great move, but a lot of that has to do with the city of Miami. If Spo was coaching Goran Dragic and Justise Winslow in Minnesota or Utah, Jimmy Butler doesn't join that team.
