Exactly but having said that...the Knicks looked awful last night. If the Spurs shot threes consistently, they would’ve dropped 80 at the half. Three to four passes against their defense results into wide open layups.

Much like the last two games, there is no excuses to lose to this dysfunctional team.

Knicks are terrible, but they've had some surprise wins.

We better not take this one for granted.

It was the best of times (for us), it was the worst of times (for them). The Nets are coming off of their first 2nd back-to-back winning streak of the season, and their first two double-digit wins. They are playing more cohesively on both ends, and are finding their stride despite significant injury losses. The Knicks are at full strength, and that’s all of the good news. Their veteran FA acquisitions have kept them competitive, but Stephen A’s boys haven’t been able to get over the hump. Speaking of, I’m sure he has a canned hot take, regardless of the game’s outcome. If we win, he’ll claim that we’re better off without Irving (Jackie McMullan will re-tweet this). If we lose, his lead story will be how Ky chose the wrong destination. Oh well, let’s just dominate them, and he can jaw-jack as long as he wants. Let’s get into it:

JARRETT ALLEN VS. TAJ GIBSON – Jarrett has all of the physical gifts to obliterate this matchup. However, Taj is a crafty vet, stronger than he looks with tireless hustle. Allen will need to overwhelm AND outsmart.

TAUREAN PRINCE VS. JULIUS RANDLE – Lord help him, TP will have his hands full here. Julius is one of the most skilled pure PF’s in the league, and doesn’t mind mixing it up down low where Prince struggles defending. If Taurean can lure Randle into a perimeter-based game, we can mitigate the damage.

JOE HARRIS VS. MARCUS MORRIS – Both players are in good form, Joe coming off of 2 of his 4 best games as a pro, and Marcus coming off of a game-winning 3 last week. They approach the game differently, and normally you’d think they would look to capitalize on the size advantage by posting up repeatedly. But with so many other true PF’s in the lineup, the slightly younger Morris twin has been purely a perimeter player. This works in Harris’ favor. His speed through screens could yield a number of good looks from 3, and I hope that Joe keeps percolating.

GARRETT TEMPLE VS. RJ BARRETT – The gifted rook versus the grizzled vet. RJ has been as advertised, a big wing capable of creating for himself and others. Garrett will have trouble keeping up with Barrett’s speed on the break, but in the half-court, our defensive talisman *should* be able to frustrate the fledgling ball-handler.

SPENCER DINWIDDIE VS. FRANK NTILIKINA – A number of Knicks have claimed the starting PG spot, but most recently it’s been the Wine Mixer. Frank is the French National team’s ballhawk, and has the size and speed to match Spencer that few can boast. However, we’re still talking about Dinwiddie, a premier PG who is currently in the zone. The Knicks are the most sophisticated about help defense, so if SD can get a step by his man, he could have a big night in MSG. I’m sure he wouldn’t have it any other way.

One trump card that Gotham can throw out is size off the bench. Knox, Portis and Robinson are a giant, luxury 2nd unit frontcourt. We may need to bring Rodions and Nic out of bubble wrap, not to mention DJ. On the perimeter, their guards have an annoying history of torching us. Wayne Ellington is the main culprit, but they have many talented young wings who can get hot. Nwaba and former Knick Shumpert should come in handy.

Fizdale is perpetual puzzlement personified. Atkinson needs to turn the screws here and win the chess game in a rout, for my very sanity. I’m out of words.

PREDICTION: NETS 110, KNICKS 97
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

Wow I didn't realize the Knicks were this bad.

I guess thats what happens when you trade your franchise player for nothing and sign 4 PFs.

That's exactly what happens. I can't believe they traded KP for that trash package. Those picks will be in the 20s. And what the heck happened to Dennis Smith Jr.? That guy has regressed so bad, he belong in the g league. Fizdale doesn't know what he's doing. That team is a mess from top to bottom man. They need to try to get some value from those 4 power forwards and let the young guys get all the minutes they need.
