He's as good as everyone who follows the Euroleague and European basketball knew he'll be. The whole skepticism and ignorant talk about this game not translating well to the NBA was ridiculous, what Luka did in Europe was unprecedented for ANY player at that age EVER. Only people who underestimate the Euroleague and overvalue the NCAA had doubts about what he could do, that's a fact.

That being said, and in the absence of KD, it is my belief that Kawhi is absolutely the best player in this league. Think about it - he was the core of the Spurs, he owned prime Lebron in the finals, he carried a bunch of decent roleplayers to a title without a second, let alone a third all star next to him. The only reason he doesnt get the respect he deserves is that he is not craving for attention like other superstars. The results are undeniably there. Theres no reason to pretend the best player in the NBA has to score big numbers, triple doubles etc. every night. That is a narrative Westbrook initiated, and it carried over to Harden and Giannis, but its not the truth. Most of Kawhi's work is done on defense where it will not show up in the boxscore. But he has shown that he, without any help, makes a team a winner. Name one other guy currently playing who did the same? The last i can come up with is Dirk.

Uhh...Lowry was an all-star last year. And Siakin is now a top 15 player. Dirk literally had zero all-star teammates. Not even sure he had a top 50 teammate, to be honest.

Pure stupidity given how he performed overseas at such a young age, and the way the league had moved.
Indeed. Objectively speaking I don't think a player could have done better in the American college system. Which player in history had a superior pre-NBA résumé?

Lowry was an All-Star in the East, and Siakam was nowhere near on his current level back then.
Kawhi's playoff-run is definitely the closest thing we've seen since Dirk.

That's because the NBA isn't full of morons who would consistently trap one of the two or three best passers in the league. That's just begging to get picked apart and eviscerated.
I’d rather let bums like Tim Hardaway , Kleber beat me then Luka. I guarantee you during the playoffs he will get trapped and or double teamed. Tim Hardaway bum a** will have to make shots. Can’t forget the unicorn as well. I’m not trying to rain on the Luka parade but we have to put things in perspective. The Rockets played absolutely no defense on him all night and allowed him to do anything he wants on the court. That is simply inexcusable. But it’s November so W/e

Siakim is nowhere near what he was way back 6 months ago?
