I'm not a fan of Trae, but I don't think this comment is fair. Trae had a great start, then got injured, and his best teammate got busted with PEDs and has been out for the past games.

Luka is on a whole different level, but Trae is playing great for a second year player.

Wouldnt mind when Davis and KP would be both injuried during the series, so its a Lebron vs Luka special and who is able to lift a bunch of bench player to the higher level.

We need a new thread so we can change our votes. Doncic, Giannis, LeBron, Davis, Harden. Giant gap. The rest.

Lol after all star snub last year, now we'll have this excuse again for the MVP?

It's not an excuse that's just how voters vote fair or not.

Completely agree.
Trae has actually been playing like one of the top 3-4 PG in the league, especially when you consider how bad is the rest of his team.
The fact Luka is on a whole different level to Trae says much more good things about Luka than it says anything bad about Trae.

Of course it doesn't say nothing bad about him, but it's still ridiculous that Hawks fan try to convince themselves (and others) that picking Trae over Doncic was the correct choice. We all know that's not true, Trae is and will be a great player but everyone (at least outside the NBA) knew you never ever ever pass on a player like Doncic.

On a side note ... how the hell does Kawhi have any MVP votes in the poll?
I think we can all expect him to be the most load-managed star in the NBA this season. Being that the MVP award is a regular season award Kawhi should be out of the running if he misses around 20 games.

I genuinely think Luka has a really damn strong argument for MVP.

Not just that but lets be honest, the time Kawhi has been on the court he hasn't played at a MVP level this year.

25/8/4 on 54 TS% and 48 eFG%

isn't bad, but its certainly not MVP level when comparing it to the other guys as of right now. Giannis is outperforming Kawhi in every aspect of the game, while being on a team with a better record. I dont see any argument for Kawhi over Giannis at this instance. And I currently have Giannis 2nd to Luka at this moment.

Luka is trying to do what Giannis did with the bucks last season. He is putting monster stats and his team overachieves without someone else playing close to his level. If Dallas manage to stay in the top 2-3 seed he will get it 100%.

Lebron has the top seed atm but AD is a top 5 player level.

Giannis will get it if he continues like this, gets the top seed and Dallas fall in the standings.

Harden is putting a lot of points but if the Rockets doesn't get a top 2-3 seed he doesn't have a chance especially if he gets beaten against the other MVP favourites.

I can reset the poll results, not sure what others think of it?

In a way it carries lot of the pre-season expectation or at least a strong reflection of the first couple weeks of the season so it's meaningful, but the poll results gets skewed more and more as the season goes on because we got all the old votes stuck in it.

Maybe we can refresh the poll every month?

luka isn't winning the MVP, stop the malarkey. This is an 82 game award, the Mavs aren't finishing top 2 or 3 in the west, luka is a cute story rn but he won't be a serious candidate 2 months from now. Realistically the only players who have a legit shot at winning are Giannis, Lebron, Harden and I'd be legit shocked (barring injury) if Giannis doesn't go b2b, the bucks are looking like they're going to have another 60 win season.

He sure makes himself look good on paper though

Dude, no one takes your posts seriously.

Your agenda has been very clear for awhile now re LeBron.

I have an opinion, and quite an objective one for that matter, based on facts, you dont. You're a dedicated fan and I can see you feel hurt. Its ok.

It's not objective unless you meant objectively stupid. At least provide some evidence next time you feel like making a dumb post and claiming it as fact.

The top 4 candidates for MVP right now are: Giannis, Harden, LeBron, Luka in some order. No one else is even close.

Yeah, maybe a reset is needed? Not sure what the rest thinks of that, I just kinda saw Kawhi having the same amount of votes as Harden and thought that those who voted probably did so at the very beginning. But the thread would work fine without a reset, too.

No that's for next year when the Mavs sign a better 3rd/4th guy and they start climbing up the ladder.
That way the stupid requirement of winning MVP based on other people doing their job will be fulfilled.

This year he's only getting All Star and maybe 1st team All NBA.

Here is a thought.

We reset the poll results at the beginning of each month, based on Seikou's latest MVP ladder (or if there is more recognized one elsewhere). I'll take the top 10 from his ranking. Practically we all know only the top 5 matters at this point and normally it turns into a 3 man race or less after the ASB, while the rest are just kept in the list for honorary mentions.

Don't reset to votes, starting a new thread each month with a link to the old thread makes sense. That way we can see how opinions changed over the course of the season.

Doncic is now leading the league in term of efficiency just in front of Giannis....incredible.
