He might be a lot of things (or not be a lot of things) but no one could say that he is a locker room or team chemistry cancer type.

You cant be when you're ultra passive. When you're there to collect the check with minimal effort, it just flows. If you know, you know.

Precisely. What a dismal investment.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

apparently Nic measured in at 6'8 1/2 barefoot...which means he could very well have been listed as 6'10 in shoes all these years. He's taller than Bismack and Marvin lol

When your best compliment as an NBA player making $25 million per year is "he is willing to come off the bench," it's not a good thing about which to boast. It tells me Nicolas Batum wants to play as little as possible and collect as much money as possible.

Some of you people are bending over way too far to defend Batum.

This is likely a case of addition by subtraction. His awful effort could have rubbed off. At least his minutes can go to young guys who WANT to play hard and prove themselves....

He’s expected to be out 3-4 weeks with the broken finger.

in 6 games Batum is averaging 5 rebounds, 4 assists while shooting 42% from three.

Do I dare to hope he can maintain this enough to make him tradeable?
Does it make him tradeable?

I would be pleasantly surprised if anyone took him off our hands, but I don't they they will. Marv is the one who I think is playing his way onto a playoff roster.

Hey! He's got 4.8 per 36!
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

 I deliberately ignored that stat, although i team with stars might not give a crap about scoring, valuing the assists and boards more.

I'm reaching, I know

doing a complete 180 here: Bismack is averaging over 18 points per 36 minutes.

You read that correctly. Batum is averaging under half of Bismack's PPG, in nearly double the MPG.

Nic has gone full Boris Diaw. He has completely given up on being a contributor for the Hornets.

I just don't think he is a fit with the young players. Borrego said he likes Batum's veteran stabilizing effect, but I don't see that at all. I see a severe disconnect in style of play. It's what makes his return from injury and to the line-up most dispiriting. Win or lose the play and interplay of the young guys to start the season - they play at a tempo and with an energy he cannot match - was fun to watch. With Batum out there? Not so much

Batum has now a french radio show. And yesterday the topic was abt contract in the NBA nowadays.
He was absolutely ok to talk abt his as an example, saying that when he signed it he was shocked by the amount, and then realized that 2-3yrs after the same type of contract would be signed by average player.
He also mentionned that nobody (from MJ to Borego) told him to change his style, added that everybody knpw in the NBA that he'll never be the 25pts/g type of player but someone who facilitates the game for other, things that doesnt pop up to your eyes when you watch the stat line.
More interesting for his and Hornets' future, he said that he wasnt sure what to decide for next yr :
- opt for the 27M and being able to use that money to finance all his projects aver here in France (he's co-owner of the best french bball club, ASVEL, own his former club as a kid, ...)
- opt out and decide de find a better challenge

I guess what would be your position about his dilema, but even if he doesnt score and translate a lot on the floor, dont you admit that as a facilitator he's the one that can change a change by his faculties to anticipate and pass the ball at the right person ?
Also admiting that it was always his principle defalut : always following the rules, and never has been "mean" enough to look for more.

this has been false for years

you gotta actually come to the ball to be a facilitator of said ball. he runs from possessions constantly and has to be forced to run anything

he's regressed each time he's checked his bank account
