Interesting tale of two halves tonight.

1/7 then 12/13.

It's definitely mental, and he want Alpha Greek mode in the 4th and everything was falling.

Taking MVP Giannis for Granted. Interesting talk about the Narrative for the 4 guys in the MVP race.

https://in.nba.com/news/giannis-antetokounmpo-50-points-milwaukee-bucks-win-utah-jazz-mvp/6z3qigna9gxuzxl5f5ftyqm9

Another, why are we overlooking Giannis as MVP article:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2863788-why-are-we-overlooking-giannis-antetokounmpos-historic-season
...Following Thursday's performance against Rip City, his season averages include 30.1 points, 14.1 rebounds and 6.6 assists. If those figures hold, they'd all be better than the ones he produced in 2018-19 when he was deemed, officially, the league's best player. Not only that, but he'll be the first to ever average at least 30 points, 14 rebounds and six assists for a full season.

A little slippage could still leave him in a class by himself. Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor are the only other players to manage 30 points, 13 rebounds and five assists for a full year.

I've always been a fan of the granny. Wilt had the best year of a dismal FT shooting career using it, but he abandoned it the following year because it made him feel "like a sissy" (and immediately reverted to his usual futility). Rick Barry led the league in FT% with it. Master it and you're set for life.

And BTW, the reason Wilt sucked at FTs is the same reason Giannis does: giant hands.

Shooting underhanded makes even more sense for tall guys with long arms. Since you're letting go of the ball by fully extending your arms, the distance to the basket is significantly shorter. And since underhanded shooting is not usually what you do, you have no muscle memory for it so it's much easier to learn correctly, than it is to re-learn shooting the "normal" way where your muscle memory keeps kicking in and you revert to your old form.

It's all fixed now.

When Giannis's elbow smashed onto the hardwood the stubborn demon of Jason Kidd was finally shattered and released.

That's a very good point about the shorter distance for the underhand shot. If you've ever played darts against a very tall person who can lean in, you've experienced the difference. With a fifteen-foot shot (actually slightly less, since it's 15' to the backboard, not the center of the rim), a three-foot or so release-point difference is significant.

Now at 30% from behind the arc, here are some notable NBAers whom Giannis's 3 point percentage ranks above...

Ben McLemore .296
Dennis Schroder .288
Brook Lopez .287
Spencer Dinwiddie .286
Eric Gordon .284
Lauri Markkanen .283
Jabari Parker .269
Patrick Beverley .265
Nikola Jokic .242
Russell Westbrook .230

I don't really see anyone on this list who is going to be told to stop shooting 3's anytime soon.

Btw, Giannis is nipping right at the heels of Kawhi Leonard (.306) :o

I dont understand why there is such a huge false narrative that Giannis isnt an elite passe for his size or a playmaker?

Ι friend who is an engineer and has nothing to do with basketball told me that giannis can't be a great shooter because his body shape is too easy to throw slightly off balance due to his narrow hips, broad shoulders, giant arms and high center of gravity.

Kinda make sense in some strange way :dontknow:

Because he's not? He's a good passer, but he's not elite. There are 10-15 guys in the league who are elite passers. Giannis isn't on the same level as them.

in what realm there are 15 better passers than the guy who literally facilitates the offense and plays like other 2 people in the league atm?

In Fact im not sure there is anyone besides Giannis and Lebron who are the only point Forwards in this league.

I'd say Lebron, Doncic, Simmons, Jokic, Young, Rubio and Westbrook are above him for sure in terms of vision. I'd agree that he's currently a good but not elite passer, but he certainly could get there.

If giannis was an elite passer, things may have been different in that raptors series. Lost count how many times he missed open guys. It provided incentive to keep crowding him whilst not worrying about the open shooters.

Having the ball in your hands a lot doesn't make you an elite passer. He clearly showed he wasn't during that Raptors series as he consistently missed making the correct pass and made the correct pass too late and threw passes outside of the pocket where guys like to catch.

You want me to make a list, I'll make a list.... but it's not worth my time because you won't admit that Giannis is bad at anything anyway.

He did create passes, Giannis alone had 31 potential missed assists from WIDE OPEN threes alone....we shot bloody 28% form the floo and GIannis in the series was better 3 point shooter than a lot shooters

I needed to clarify for a big man he is elite and i honestly don't consider Westbrook better but we can ague about it.

Why do you bring me the Raptos series were he wasn't even a bad passer there, the only reason he was forcing things towards the end was because ou whole team was missing **** of wide open shots.

I cant believe i have to remind Bucks fans who watch him play, the same people who wee glamoring him at playing point and being the main ball handler the same people who praised him for his playmaking now try to dismiss how he plays on a series whee he wasnt even bad at it.

its mind boggling you guys see and saw how freaking bad this team is without him with same spacing while having others create shots and we failed miserably, from Bledsoe to Middletton o XYZ player in this team.

if you guys are twisting reality and fact proven statistic just to tell me to accept Giannis is playing bad or w/e then you'e wasting your time.
