The Celtics. Lanford is better prospect than Bamba, by a bunch, and you want to add in a late first as well? Bamba is a bust.

meh, If Bamba is a bust, then no reason to think that Langford will be much better, as out of the 2, Bamba has shown better in College and in the NBA.

because he's in his 2nd year. Lanford is in the start of his rookie year and has played like 2 mins of ball in regular and preseason it seems. There is a difference between a bust and a prospect. Langford is in the prospect category at this time. Bamba has played, and if you have ever watched him play, you would know.

This is a ridiculous statement. We haven't even seen what Langford can do yet. Hard pass on Bamba for Langford.

I dont see how people are calling Bamba a bust already.

Kid is only 21 years old.
came into the league more raw than polished
has crazy length and potential\
had a leg injury that took him out of lineups since Jan 2019, and not having any playing at all (took someone like Hayward over a year to recover from an injury)

There is zero reason to call Bamba a bust at this point in time. And there is no reason to call Langford more or a/better than prospect at this time either. looking at college careers, Bamba's was better. looking at NBA careers, Langford isnt even playing in the big league and bamba has. Romeo at this point is a shooting guard who has alot of trouble shooting, on a team playing behind, Brown, Smart, Hayward, tatum, Kemba, Wannamaker, Edwards.

He isnt getting playing time over Edwards!

What does that have to do with Edwards getting playing time over Langford? You've got Bamba on the brain I guess.

As for Langford, I've seen zero indication he's been completely healthy at any time since he was drafted. How about we table this until he actually gets some playing time?

He's 7ft tall, shooting 35% from the field and 25% from 3. He is healthy and playing 14 mpg. Even when Vuc is out, he didn't start.

His Per is 8. He might chase a block from time to time, but you watch him play and you realize he's about as useful as the frenchman on the end of our bench.

Sure, he's 21, sure he might develop some day. But to give up this years lotto pick, a late pick in 2020 for him.....

We have Robert Williams playing the same amount of time at 75% fg%, same pts, rebs, blocks but a per of 20 and 7 months older. Only thing bamba has is height. Timelord is bigger and stronger, and can jump higher.

It makes 0 sense. If you said Semi/Poirer/Wannamaker and the bucks pick then I guess it makes sense. Low level assets, frees up time for Waters to be on the 15 man roster and Langford to actually play some mins later in the season.

You have to look at team and fit too though. I believe Bambas number are worse because of fit and system.

Not a huge magic fan, but i have watched 4 games where he played in this year. The eye test. Have you looked at the eye test. Fit or system... He doesn't seem to do anything well. He seems like a net negative on the floor. At lot of young guys are, but I don't even see the positive part. It's pretty much all net negative. BBIQ, bad. Shooting. Bad. Strength. Bad. Rotations. Bad. Not being lost on what to do on offense. So bad.

What does Bamba do that Timelord cannot? Trading for another raw, springy center right is is like putting a hat on a hat.

Celtics don’t need a center. Theis, Kanter and Rob Williams can handle that position. Celtics do need a shooting PF type like Bertans, Marcus Morris, Bjelica etc. in my opinion.

Especially with Grant Williams shooting 20% and 0% from three point range

Bertans would probably play small ball center for us..... And I'm ok with that. It wasn't really an issue until Hayward went down. His size, outside shooting, and shot creation, and playmaking is missed. Too much Semi/Williams time.

Agree.

People are going to hate it, but Marcus Morris would be perfect with our team right now.

I can add Robert Covington (he is only 6'7, but he is playing a lot of minutes at PF), Olynyk and Thaddeus Young to the list.

I think Boston values Brown more than Bogdan and Langford more than Holmes, personally.

I think Boston sees Brown as part of the core going forward. They may consider dealing him for a star, but not someone who is similarly trying to establish himself like Bogdan. Langford could be available eventually, but I think they’d aim higher with their recent lottery pick than Holmes.

Well, the fact that your trade has 0 ways to ever happen in any form under the CBA makes me wonder the point of the discussion.

Curious why you say that. I checked it in the trade checker but used a comparable salary for Holmes since he isn't eligible until later in the year. Not that I am going to argue its merits at length. Especially given Bogi couldn't hit a shot against Boston

Brown has a PPP due to his rookie extension. Counts as current salary as outgoing purposes, but extended salary for the team receiving him. Given the level of his extension, he’s functionally got a NTC this season.

I'm not one to propose trades, but someone brought up Kelly Olynyk's name... I would not speculate on what it would take to get a deal done, but I would like to see him back. He would fill a need.

With how good Waters looked, it got me thinking if he or Edwards could put together a string of good games before the deadline, we might have just upped our asset pool. I like these 2 but it's hard to see a path forward for them here- much like with Rozier. Assuming Walker and Smart are not going anywhere. And come playoffs Brad will probably trust Wannamaker over any rookie.
