Curious - how did you pick those 34 players last year? You probably have mentioned it somewhere but I honestly can't recall.

Pretty sure I never mentioned it. Basically, I was just running down the top 10, 15, or 20 players (you could go that far because there was overlap) in each of the three metrics I was using: WS, VORP, and RAPM/possessions. That's why it changed from week to week. Obviously, the players selected could affect the results at every point in the list, but I figured that this methodology, if done blindly, which it was, was basically fair. As implied in my post this morning, the new formula won't have this issue.

Is that a stat for the last 9 games? If so, not really the best arguement for Kawhi. He missed 3 of those games entirely, and is buoyed by games against Hawks, OKC and Raptors missing 3 players

Its a stat for all season I believe.

He's not playing nearly good enough, nor enough (I'm sure he sits again tonight) to be in the debate. And PG has indeed been better in his limited games as well.

Kawhi literally has someone with the same defensive impact has him. PG was tops in perimeter defense with RAPM last season. He had like 4 steals last game. Lmao at giving all that credit to Kawhi. Beverly,PG, and Zubac are great defenders. Kawhi just another great defender. Not many teams will be scoring consistently on Beverly, Paul Geaorge,Kawhi, and Zubac. I suspect if they played more minutes and games together they would be top 2 in defense.

Not the same defensive impact, Paul George is clearly a better defender than kawhi.

Leonard has been back to his DPOTY level this season and George hasn't played much defense this season. George even admitted that he doesn't have his 'defensive legs' under him yet. This season Kawhi has been clearly the clippers best defender. If you're not going to give him MVP than give him DPOTY. Kawhi has less defensive help than Anthony Davis.

LeBron > George
Danny Green > Beverly
Dwight Howard > Zubac

Not all your posts have to be delusional you know? You can make a genuine post from time to time.

Kawhi has no argument at all for dpoy or mvp. He’s not even close to either.

Funny how lebrons suddenly a better defender than Paul George too. Keep moving those goal posts.

Kawhi Leonard is OUT from the MVP Discussion (Injury Management, Left Knee Soreness, general load management)

Leonard's having his worst season since his rookie year, and he's missing games. He's not the best player in league or remotely close to the MVP discussion.

Am I missing something? I haven't watched him play much (busy life at the moment) but his stats check out fine. I agree that he ain't the MVP though.

Offensively his efficiency has fallen off a cliff.

Lmao at Kawhi... Not even close to the MVP. How are some people so delusional?
And I thought Jordan/Kobe/LeBron fans were crazy...

It's Giannis for now unless the Bucks fall far behind the Lakers in record or the Mavs leap to top 3 in record.

I think the whole “ worst year since his rookie year” thing isn’t really close to being true.

But alas, he’s not playing close to an mvp either.

Lakers have a net rating similar to the Knicks when LeBron sits.

Seems like a pretty valuable player to the team with the best record right now.

Not that the Most Valuable Player award has ever been about the most valuable player.

At this point, anyone but giannis is a robbery. He's probably top 2 with AD for DPOY too. His production is absolutely ridiculous and he's gonna have a top 3 record. How do you go with anyone but him?

Lebron is the mvp rn

Higher net rating than Giannis.

Tougher conference.

Has the narrative: LA, Year 17, Injury last year, and not winning one for 7 years

The production difference between Giannis and Lebron is far too much to overcome. Giannis is putting up all-time numbers, and i usually think guys regress from these stupid stats they put up early in the season, but this is very sustainable for Giannis. Dude is a freakin beast. If Lebron wins with the numbers as is between the 2 of them, it will go down as one of the bigger robberies in MVP history.

Giannis is leading over the pack by a decent amount early on imo. He's raised his level yet again and doing it on both ends.
