GT #17 Wiz @ Lakers 11/29 10:30pm

Post#1 » by nate33 » Thu Nov 28, 2019 10:12 pm

The Wizards are coming off a win in Phoenix but are playing their 3rd game in 4 nights. The Wizards are facing the 16-2 Lakers, currently on a 9-game win streak.

It'll be interesting to see who the Wizards utilize to guard Lebron. Hachimura is the only guy on the roster with the body type to even remotely match up with him physically, but with Lakers starting a big lineup, I guess Troy Brown will draw the assignment.

Hopefully, AD and Lebron had a little too much turkey.

They are going to need career nights to compete with the Lakers. Especially with IT out there.

I'm thinking 130-117 Lakers.

I just don’t see how we pull out a W in either of these next two.

How nice would it be to have Jerian Grant and Jalen Jones in the rotation instead of IT and Miles?

Or Justin Anderson.

Heck, in the woulda, shoulda, coulda category, we could have bought out Howard and refrained from signing CJ; and then used that $6M in luxtax savings plus the $4M in luxtax room we have now to retain Sato. Then, instead of IT, we could have signed Justin Anderson:

PG Sato/Ish
SG Beal/McRae
SF Brown/Anderson

That's a competent guard/wing rotation with sound defenders, and Ish might be a movable asset at the Trade Deadline.

Clever, nate!

Tommy did some good stuff this off-season, but the whole Howard-Miles situation sticks out as a bungle.

Further down the woulda, coulda, shoulda path -- if we didn't match the offer to Sato (who, I think, wanted to leave anyway?) & didn't sign IT, we could have signed Anderson & also kept Jemerrio Jones, a terrific defender. We'd have shifted some of Brown's minutes to PG.

Better for more than this season a well -- after all, IT is just plugging the hole Wall left; he's not in our future plans, which would at least have been a possibility for both Anderson & Jones.

My belief is that the Lakers already own the referees benefit of a doubt. They get calls. They'd probably be more like 13-5 or 12-6 if not for star and superstar calls.

I believe that having watched virtually no minutes. Black box test. Look it up if interested. I'm assuming ...

Second to the Lakers having an inflated record, and more wins than they should; I very strongly believe the no-defense super offense Wizards should have a very close to .500 record. With the Wizards they're starting to be taken seriously. However, Beal doesn't always get to the line like a Lebron.

If the game is called evenly the Wizards are quite capable of winning. I suspect Bryant and Wagner will be in foul trouble very early. I suspect Lebron will knock down Wizards like they're bowling pins ... and then get an and-1 gift from the refs.

ABOVE ALL: Dwight Howard's going to have his way. Well, within the confines of the game I mean. He's going to have at least half a dozen dunks. A 20/20 from Howard wouldn't surprise me.

I'm thinking the Lakers 95% will win but that the odds should be more like an 80% win for LAL.

The good news is the Wizards are really close to the eighth seed, even with unsoundness defensively.

The trade deadline is a ways away. IT and Miles and even Mahinmi have expiring deals that can be moved for players like Nerlens Noel and Larry Nance, Jr. Satoransky's team isn't doing jack. He I don't think can be traded back to DC but someone just as good might be available.

I'm not worried at all about Dwight. He'll get some boards, but I expect Beal and Bryant to roast him in the pick-and-roll.

Instead of 16-2 vs 6-10; I think this is more like 14-4 vs 7-9.

True. That is IF the refs don't call early fouls on Bryant. Will he and Wagner even be allowed to get comfortable at either end of the floor. This game is being played in LA. Showtime or whatever they're called will get the calls.

I was huge on Justin Anderson! And Jones was a keeper imo too. Definitely worth cutting CJ and ian.two people who have bee little to no help at all.

Lets not blame the refs too soon. They can't get any worse than that Sacramento game.
