In Bol Bol case other teams to take a risk with some bold qualifier offer next summer will not need any insider information about his development nor any G-League game to watch. They will ask only how healthy is he (a question which ruined his status this summer).

So it wasn't a total original thought, I'll give you that. However, is it wrong to protect the team and it's financial position (for this year anyway) by not overpaying a guy who:

1. Is very unlikely to get much PT this season.

2. Needs to prove he's healthy and motivated.

3. On a team that is focusing on a championship, not a build/rebuild.
????

I have an issue calling that "giving up on a player" as I do see calling it good business being fiscally responsible

I love Bol's response to seeing Red Rocks. For those of our number that have never been there; let's just say it is a truly spectacular and very large outdoor theater that is worthy of anything the ancient Greeks had built.

I'm not expecting to see Bol playing a lot of minutes with the Nuggets. It seems likely that he will remain on a two-way contract in order to get more playing time. (Here's hoping I get some G-League games for his team.)

The Nuggets have four preseason games and since they are bringing back most of last year's team, I'm hoping Bol gets around 40-50 minutes during the preseason. He's a decent shooter from anywhere. No doubt he can block some shots and get some rebounds just because of his height. The question is, can he do that in the NBA with the much stronger bigs than he faced in college. I especially want to see him playing defense as a center or power forward.

Bol Bol remains out following foot surgery with no timetable to return

This news was discovered during the first media conference of the day, with Bol Bol saying he will need a little longer to recover and there’s no set date for him to begin playing 5 on 5 again.

Bol remains an enigma after sustaining this injury just nine games into his freshman season at the University of Oregon, but like Porter, if he realizes his immense potential, the Nuggets may have found a diamond in the rough. Without knowing the details of his injury or the time at which he can return, I fully expect the Nuggets to be just as cautious with him as they were with Porter and Jarred Vanderbilt last season. Those guys didn’t suit up until they were fully ready, and it’s possible that Bol won’t be ready at any point during the upcoming year.

If he is though, expect him to play mostly G League minutes as he gets accustomed to NBA speed and athleticism.

Not great news, but at least puts some lights on his real status. Everything which we hear about Bol this summer was a pure mess.

Not sure what you Mods are smokin' but I don't agree with the spin you're putting on this one either.

1. Bol has started his injury is 100% healed. Does that mean he's ready for action ??? No but it is the first positive foot forward.

2. He signed a 2-way contract. This tells me he didn't want to rock the boat because he could've. It also tells me he's bought in to the Nuggets plan. Another positive !

3. H e stated he loves DEN, another great sign.

4. Finally, he acknowledges he doesn't have a timeframe, must have seen (and spent time with ?) MPJ and what he has gone thru, knows he'llget his shot but needs to be patient.

To me, that sounds like a plan, a good plan

What about Grant ??

As for Bol, just good to see him actually playing games w/o issues, hoping he can build on that slight frame. I'd love to see him get his weight up to the 240-250lbs range.

I love the acquisition of Grant. I look forward to seeing him as our starting PF before the end of the year. He's a younger and quicker version of Millsap, whom I respect greatly.

If everyone lives up to potential; here's what could be (top-9):

Jokic - Bol
Grant - Bol - Vanderbilt
Porter - Grant - Vanderbilt
Beasley - Harris
Murray - Morris

Why did they recall him if they are not going to play him? This is just cutting into his 45 days.

I have not thought the Nuggets use their two-way options well in the past, so really don't expect much out of them for now. The best I can say is that, if I understand the rules correctly, if he does not practice and does not travel with the team, it doesn't count as one of his 45 days. So perhaps they wanted him in Denver for some special rehab. As every Nuggets fan knows, the Nuggets do not share information well, so the best we can do is guess.

As for playing time, Malone prefers to stick with his veterans even in "garbage time", so I really wouldn't expect him to play Bol more than 100 minutes this year.

I read they recalled him for medical evaluation/rehab stint. And if they don't play him or allow him to practice with the team it doesn't cut into his 45 days

Thanks for the updates. I got to watch one of his games and thought he looked pretty good. His stats are less important to me than his play: he played like he wasn't afraid of re-injuring himself. I liked that.

I've seen limited tape, and he wasn't very bouncy on the interior. The blocks I saw were just him standing there and putting his hand up in the right place. But he DID block the shots, and maybe that's all that was needed on those plays.

He's clearly skilled. If he's healthy, that's a great second round pickup. Maybe more than that.
