Vuc is a solid #3 player on a contender.

And The Human Torch is perfectly where he needs to be. Problem is we don’t have the pieces yet and everyone is not playing their proper role.

When Vuc and Fournier are your top 2 offensive players our ceiling is not very high. When they become complimentary pieces on a team then you know we have a contending team.

I didn't include Fournier and Aminu as foundational pieces. I included them as part of the prime players that sustain a higher floor for the young core to develop in.

That young core is 3-4 years away from early prime ascent when "next level" might occur. On top of that, contract cycles and player movement, render what some like to call "foundational" as a fantasy anyhow...its just not how the real world NBA works. At best, only 2-3 players on the current roster will be on the Magic in that timespan.

Ross is the prime example of not overpaying a guy from 1 previous season of decent data.

If Fournier doesn’t continue to pick up his slack, this team regresses from last season.

What's not true? Young's defense is atrocious.

This is why anti-tankers should not complain about Mo Bamba or doubting the odds of landing a star in the draft, the higher you pick.

Kings won more games than Magic and could have drafted both Young and Doncic if they wanted to.

It really sucks to be them.

I like Ross more than most on here but he really doesn’t provide a ton if his shot is off. I think the team regression is inevitable either way but Fournier’s offense is definitely a pleasant surprise.

But yeah the two of them are probably our most important guys on that end, which explains a lot.

I think Ross is a good defender. I treat him like a more athletic, worse shooter Redick. He definitly has a lot of value with his shooting alone. If Redick being 35 is worth 13,5 M, Ross is certainly worth 12 M. Not his fault we are prioritizing development over winning and defense over offense. He will find his rhytm soon.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I just can't agree with you on Ross.

Unlike Vucevic who pretty clearly had a career year, Ross wasn't really all that much better last year than any other year of his career. BPM, WS/48, VORP, RPM were all pretty much in line with several other seasons of his career.

Quite literally the only thing that changed was that he was allowed to take more shots than he had ever be allowed to take before.

A 12.5M AAV on a 109M salary cap for a guy who signed for 10.5 AAV when the salary cap was 94M really isn't all that outrageous.

Ross, unfortunately, is just having the worst shooting season of his career by a pretty significant margin 16 games in.

Coincidence after getting highly paid in a contract year?

Possibly.

Or Ross could be more banged up than he and the team have told the public.

Or the guy could just be missing jump shots he's fully capable of making.

Ross is 21.2% on open threes this year. There's just no way that's going to continue.

Ross is a career 37% 3PT shooter. He's been over 35% five of the last six years. He's under 28% right now.

Ross is a career 41% shooter from midrange. 44% the last five years. He's under 35% right now.

I'm just hard pressed to believe at age 28 that his skills have just gone away. This isn't even his first contract.
