some weird Cam hate in this thread

i have big reservations about his future but I'm happy he had a great game, hopefully he enjoys this feeling enough where it lights a fire under him to play like this more often...the potential he has is immense

i think it was the exception to what has been the rule and it really didnt move the needle for me at all.
maybe if he can produce at that level one in 10 games the rest of the season he can be reasonably veiwed as the better option in their rotation over somebody older and soon to be gone than just the project tank commander he has been up until this game getting plenty of minutes while playing poorly w/ atl just using him in the rotation for development and tank purposes & him having low impact most games.

Some how many moron fans, GMs, scouts, and media "experts" still thought he would be good in the NBA despite sucking in college and shooting 36% Hype is like a drug to some people! They just can't quit it once they start!

I like how one good game is supposed to change this lol. he is awful!! any chucker can have a good game thanks to random variation, but it took him like 20 games to have one good shooting game..that is how awful he is.

i mean, people took that into account, the reason he dropped to 10 is because he shot 36% at Duke, if he shot, I dunno, 45% he wouldn't probably been a top5 pick.

Except this isn’t his first good shooting game.

Last 6 games:
10.8 points / 3.3 rebounds / 1.2 assists (25 mins)
41% FG / 36% 3pt

At least showing some progress.

I not sure it was worth trading away a generational player to end up with a future role player coming off the bench. But the Covington comparison seems a reasonable expectation for the kid moving forward...

In 8 December Games thus far:

Avg 11 ppg 5 rpg on 35% shooting from 3-pt range.

No part of RoCo has ever struggled defending the ball. He's a top 10 perimeter defender in the league easily.

This was his first decent game in about 6 weeks. Reddish was a team worst -26 and the Hawks were blown out. Again.

Other than that, nothing but positives in the development of Cam Reddish.....

He has struggled defending quick point guards and decent sized wings with ISO ability. Roco is really more of handsy team defender than a 1 on 1 guy.

He guards SGs and SFs because that's his position. It's not a weakness that he can't guard positions he doesn't play, it's just not a strength.

I'm not sure why you even bother. The GB die has been cast on this guy. Doesn't matter what he does or doesn't do, at this point.

Also, like the one dude said, I hate cherry-picked statlines as well.

"First player with 12 points, 4 assists, 2 boards on a Tuesday in December since Olajuwon" or w/e. Just say he had a good game.

I feel like one day he can become a "good stats on a bad team" type of player ala Ricky Davis

Covington isn't a great on ball defender. He's a great team defender, deflections, rotations, but just straight one on one defense he's not amazing

He has been regularly assigned both point guards and wings in the past. He now defends 4s majorly though.

You can't say he has never struggled defending the ball when he has had success defending one type of point guard and not another.
