So, this is objectively false in his overall time here in Charlotte. From the summer he was traded:

There were other examples about usage and such where Batum himself talked about scoring more here, but it's not really worth searching for them. I'll be charitable and guess that maybe nobody expected him to change this year.
To echo what DY_nasty said, my view is that pass first is fine. Pass only is not and that's pretty much were Batum seems to be these days.
