Re: 2019 Draft Class - Part 2
Sorry for bringing a dead thread back to life, just needed a quick vent. What did last year's Duke team lack? Shooting and spacing for Zion and RJ. Who was the 5th recruit in last year's class for Duke who was also a top 40 recruit? Oh ya Joey Baker who was known to be a sharpshooter. Did K give him any minutes? Nah played him a total of 18 minutes all season, didnt see his first action until late February.
Jump to this year and he doesn't see the court vs KU and only sees 3 minutes in the loss against SFA. He finally sees minutes the last 2 games and what does he do, exactly what he was a top 40 recruit for. The dude is a 6'7 sharpshooter (with beautiful form).
Had to vent somewhere because you get crucified if you criticize K on any Duke forum. What a freaking waste to have a shooter this good just stuck on your bench all year, especially when your team was in dying need of shooting. K has really lost his edge.

Haha. But I mean come on. Hey let me just recruit this top 40 player who is only known for his shooting. Then have a team that is 1 good shooter away from being truly dominant and just have that sharpshooter sit on my bench all season long till late Feb and then play him like 5 minutes 1 game, 1 minute another game and a grand total of 18 minutes.
Then this year, ya just not going to play him a single second opening night. Oh we are losing to SFA, ya lets just play this highly recruited Sophomore 3 freaking minutes. Oh did he just put up 16 points in just 23 minutes the game before and Cassius Stanley is out. Next game, ya let me only play him 17 minutes for the game even though he went 5-6 shooting for 11 points.
Its just so freaking frustrating thinking what could've been if last year we had 1 guy that could make a shot from the perimeter. What a freaking waste.

Last year was supposed to be a redshirt. It was pre agreed on. But they still screwed him. His camp I know was pissed but K was able to somehow smooth it. Btw Duke, saw cats illustrated reeled you in lol

Ya I know it was supposed to be a redshirt year, that makes it even worse in my opinion. If you were going to play him, then actually give the dude minutes. Dont waste a year of eligibility so the dude can play 18 pointless minutes. Honestly the way K handled Baker last year is arguably one of his worst moments in his career in my opinion. Showed a clear sign of him not putting together all the pieces.
Haha ya I dable over there time to time.

Re: 2019 Draft Class - Part 2
An excerpt form The Athletic:
The 2019 draft lottery has been a train wreck
Um …. Can we talk about this draft lottery class?
With the two incandescent talents from June’s draft, Zion Williamson and Ja Morant, on the shelf for the near future, is there anyone in that draft you’d turn the channel to see play right now?
I didn’t want to jump the gun, so I waited for a while on this. But now that teams have played about 20 games each, early returns suggest the 2019 class is every bit as bad as people feared — particularly after those first two picks.
Several highly touted rookies have been frightfully bad. The third, fourth, fifth, sixth and 10th picks in the draft all have negative Win Shares this year; the seventh pick is barely treading water at 0.1.
Again, it’s still early … only it’s not really THAT early anymore. As always, some of these players will get better as the year goes on, and some will emerge in their second and third seasons. But roughly half the players selected in the lottery will need to show major, major strides just to get a second contract. That’s a far cry from the group that stormed the league a year ago.

He doesnt even know how good he is yet. Its like watching a Marvel superhero wake up and realize his powers and just try things out. Once he puts it together him and Beal are gonna be a hell of a scoring duo with many 50/15/10 games

Ya'll see Reddish. He went from the very bottom to being rookie bad. I remember a rookie we had last year with the same trend

Ummm...I think you might be reading the graphic wrong.
He's one of the 4 worst rookies according to this metric, despite having amply PT to prove otherwise.
Here's hoping he does improve.

He has been a good defender for us. His offense has flashed but he is inconsistent. A lot of our rookies are getting hit hard because of the mins they play and the personnel grouping. Once John is back, you should see improvements

Re: 2019 Draft Class - Part 2
CBS SportsNBA Rookie Power Rankings: Rui Hachimura takes over top spot, depth of 2019 class continues to impress
This draft class may not be filled will star power, but it's deep in rotation players and that's just as good
Unlike the 2018 draft class, the 2019 class wasn't billed for having bonafide star power outside of the top three picks, but as we've now seen these rookies play a quarter of the NBA season, what we've learned is this draft class has produced a ton of really solid rotational players. Not everyone needs to be a Luka Doncic or Trae Young, and while teams hope that all their draft picks turn out to be that caliber of player, getting a quality rotation player can be just as important.
Players like Jarrett Culver, Eric Paschall, De'Andre Hunter and P.J. Washington, will likely never be the No. 1 scoring option on a championship team. However, all of those guys have the potential to enjoy long careers because they can be the third-best player on a team, play solid defense and still get buckets when they need to. There might not be as much star power in this class, but there's a slew of guys who have shown flashes of becoming quality rotation players, and as every championship team will tell you, depth is everything.
Remember, these rankings will reflect a rookie's performance on a week-to-week basis, not the collective season, so these aren't Rookie of the Year standings. For a look at last week's rankings, click here. With that straightened out, here are the latest Rookie Power Rankings for the 2019-20 season.
1. Rui Hachimura WAS • PF • 8
2. Eric Paschall GS • PF • 7
3. Darius Garland CLE • PG • 10
4. P.J. Washington CHA • PF • 25
5. De'Andre Hunter ATL • SF • 12

KPJ has been steadily gaining a foothold on the ways of the league, and is starting to increase his impact. had a really strong performance against his Idol in Harden tonight. I think it is safe to say he will be in top 5 lists for most slept on prospects from this class as if that wasn't expected, but now the proof is showing
