Would rather have one of them make All-NBA than both of them make the All-Star game.

Which statline do you prefer?

33.4 MPG/19.3 ppg/.555 efg%/7.1 trb/2 ast/1.3 stl/1.6 tov
31.9 MPG/21.7 ppg/.555 efg%/3.2 trb/2.9 ast/1.1 stl/1.9 tov

Spoiler:
The first is Jaylen so far this year, the 2nd is Klay Thompson in his 4th season, the year that the Curry/Klay/Green trio won their first title. Not saying Jaylen is Klay, but just trying to put the year he's had so far in perspective.

I know you included the disclaimer, but still. The guy you're comparing to is the ULTIMATE example of why stats don't tell the whole story. He can score 30 without taking a dribble and he takes tough defensive assignments. What makes him/his team successful is how low maintenance he is.

We saw what sharing looked like last year for Jaylen (and Jayson for that matter) and it wasn't pretty. They'll get another chance someday but until then I'm not going to assume they can do it.

Jaylen with an over .700 free throw %

I will take that all day. He just continues to impress. His hard work is really paying off. Can't wait to see where he goes in the coming years.

To become great, consistency is key. Bringing it night after night is what separates stars from the rest of the league. Hopefully, we see that consistency more and more this year from these two.

This is great....

Tatum scored 19 of his 26 points and had two assists playing alongside the second unit. Encouraging development. Stevens is really making a conscious effort of letting his game grow by being "the man" on the floor even if it's against opposing benches.

We are talking about Tatum and his defense, justifiably so. But what is starting to happen in front of our eyes is his development as a playmaker. When Hayward went down I said Tatum would have to be thrown into the role as secondary playmaker, and there have been bumps in the road for sure, but it's starting to click. For the season his assist percentage is now up 40% over last year, while his turnover percentage is a career low.

It's part of the reason the team has played so well with him on the court, even if he isnt scoring he contributes so much elsewhere. What a stark contrast from his scouting reports at Duke.

It’s crazy how lucky we are to have this duo, even luckier that they weren’t traded away for nothing.

I just rewatched the last 30 seconds of last nights 3rd quarter. A thing of sheer beauty between those two.

Tatum is now 11th in the league in PIPM. The names above him

Giannis
Luka
Harden
Kawhi
Lebron
AD
Towns
Butler
Embiid
Brook Lopez, who sticks out, but has been really good.

Agreed. Kudos to him for all he has improved and how he is maximizing his prodigious physical and athletic gifts. I see still at this point see him as #2 option on a championship team, but that is pretty darned good. I've gone from guessing 1-2 AS appearances to guessing 6-7.

That skip-and-stare is something new, no? He has that Paul Pierce swag now.

They should have put the whole thing in there, that crazy bounce pass to a Jaylen dunk in transition is what got the garden rocking, then that 3 put it over the edge.

It was my favorite part of the season thus far.

I drew that analogy long ago, and was mocked for it then. In fairness to the mockers, the two players get their results in very different ways, Klay with the super-quick release on accurate shots, and Jaylen by elite athleticism.

A very under-rated and never talked about aspect of JB's game is the lift he get on his jumper. A quick gather and great lift create vertical separation where other guys need movement or the dribble to create horizontal seperation.

Best part of Brown's game is his coachability. He didn't really know how to play organized basketball coming from a garbage college program (coaching wise). He has improved his skills but also plays pretty team oriented basketball. He tries to make good basketball plays even if he doesn't have great vision and his scoring fits well with the team.. It's not JB showing off - its part of the team's offense..

Third is RAPM, too. Siakam and Harden above him.

Of course Ben McLemore is fifth and Donte Divencenzo is 13th, so there is a lot of noise in the data still.
