I’d hate to be the one maxing Ingram. He has done everything you could ask of him and yet I’m just not convinced he’s worth it. Hopefully I’m wrong.

He's trending in the right direction, just needs more time.

I think he's a pretty easy guy to max. You're not only paying these young players for what they are now but what their potential is. While Ingram may not outplay a potential max contract in year 1 to me it's highly projectable that he outplays it over a 5 year term. Wiggins may and up being worth his 5 year max too the way he's currently going.

I am thinking of opening a thread on the Toronto board. The following quotes may be included.

"How concerned are we about Masai's replacement?"
"Not only we can't keep our players after a championship, even our gm is leaving us"
"We should go after magic"
"At least he left us with cap space"

Did you really just post a lineup with the starting 2 guard being JR Smith?

Our actual management posted a lineup with the starting 2 guard being Tony Snell.

If Ingram isn't a no-brainer for the rookie max then who is? Damn near putting up 25/7/4/1/1 on 60% TS at 22 years old. Feels like people just love to write off these one-and-done college prospects way too early into their NBA careers. Ingram had the highest ceiling out of anyone in that draft, even over Simmons. Goes to show just how bad the Lakers were/are at developing talent.

Just post a troll comment on how Masai is linked to Milwaukee because of the Bucks' owners connections to the democratic party leadership.

He started to look like this player last year with the Lakers. Mostly I was wondering if he is a guaranteed Pelican, because he would probably be the most sought after free agent this offseason (assuming Anthony Davis doesn't double cross the Lake Show).

It's going to be pretty funny when Toronto doesn't get Giannis and Masai leaves for DC or the Knicks

The Knicks want to hire Jason Kidd to lure Giannis in free agency.

Also, Silver should hand in his resignation.

Out of the four major sports, Silver is the best commish of the whole wretched lot, and yeah, that's a low bar. I think he's been fine, but the restructuring of the season and tournament would be a spectacular own goal. What's your biggest beef with him?

Silver is more concerned about the brand of the NBA than the actual sport of basketball. More interested making money off things like gambling than caring about the game of basketball. Silver thinks the NBA is product that is consumed instead of acting as a steward of an important cultural institution.

Anyone who is paying attention can see that the 3 point shot it warping the league to an unhealthy degree. Blowouts are way up and the games just aren't as close. Silver has been asleep at the switch.

Look at the differences between average biggest lead in a game, they have been steadily rising for a decade:

https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/average-biggest-lead?date=2006-06-21

https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/average-biggest-lead?date=2019-12-09

Plus the players completely owning him has been bad for the league.

Well, I hope the 3 point shot largely remains the same. Maybe toy with distance and getting rid of the corner three up to 10' extended from the baseline, but what I'd really want is to close the gap between international and NBA rules. Tinker too much with game rules and scheduling and you end up like the NFL. The less the league office is involved in manipulating game and season structure, the better in my view. I'm a big fan of continuity and believe it's imperative on coaches and players to adjust to trends and go against those trends when advantageous to do so. Honestly, I think the midrange and post game is creeping back due to the heavy reliance on the 3 ball. Zigging when other teams are zagging.

I'm fine with players having the influence they do. It's a player's league, but I admit I'm loathe to grant more power to the petro-dicks, finance bros and various nepotism cases holding ownership.

I guess I think the commissioner has two roles: 1) handling broadcast packages, licensing rights, and everything else I'd lump into league-media-marketplace synergy and 2) maintaining working relationships between management and labor. We probably have different views on what a commissioner can actually accomplish and what that position should do.

Thanks for the response.

Saw that. Laughed. Continued with my day. 0% chance that Giannis goes to ever play with Kidd again.

I could see Ujiri leaving to accept the challenge of building another team into a champion. That's what GMs do. Build.

Not sure about the Knicks though. I wouldn't want anything to do with Dolan. I would need to have it in my contract that I have final say on everything basketball-related, right down to what flavor Gatorade is in the bench cooler.

If there’s one thing I’m confident about it’s that Giannis would not leave the Bucks to join the Knicks. The players know what a toxic hellhole that place is.

They’ve been linked to every major free agency target since The Decision and their biggest signing in the past 10 years has been Amar’e (or Melo I guess if you count him re-signing with them post trade).

Giannis isn’t a dolt. If he leaves us it won’t be for the Knicks.

Lakers are starting their East trip tomorrow. Only one day rest between games: Orlando, Miami, Atlanta, Indiana, MKE.
I'll tip my hat to Lebron and AD if they actually play all that, but I doubt it.

I would bet that at least one of the 2 stars sits the Indiana game. I think that they want to make a statement against the Bucks.

Re: Masai turning down the Raps.

Dude has all the leverage in the world. No reason for him to sign an extension now. He can wait until the end of the firing season and use all the openings to his advantage when negotiating with the Raps or some other team that might want him.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Should we have any interest in Malik Beasley?
