depends who plays better and what the match up is.

Only Kawhi (2014), Iggy (2015), and Billups (2004) won FMVP and didn't lead their team in scoring in the last 20 years. So my guess would be AD

Good chance it will be against the Bucks if the lakers are in the finals.

Does Anthony Davis have a big edge in box score stats? If you sum their big five stats (points, rebounds, assists, steals), Lebron comes out on top due to the difference in assists being bigger than any of Davis's advantages.

This is a good point, so I'm swayed for AD.

Plus, Kawhi and Iggy were basically given it for defending Lebron and at least preventing him from beating their team single handedly. If the Lakers would match up with the Bucks, anyone who checks Giannis effectively will definitely get a bonus. I'd guess that's more likely to be Davis, though I'm intrigued by them using Lebron and his strength to try to funnel Giannis into their shot blockers.

Depends on the opponent. Think AD would win if it's the Bucks; Lebron if it's the Sixers. I think it'll be the Sixers, so Lebron.

He plays no defense...

Great offensive player, but the biggest value that big men provide is defense, and he is terrible at that.

He could compensate that by being the team's playmaker like Jokic, but he isnt either.

The wolves are the 10th seed he’s obviously not top 3. He’s so far off there’s really no debate to be had around it. He is having a really great year though.

have you been watching him? he's been great defensively this year. and if we're talking about 'plays no defense'...maybe we should also remove Luka from this thread?

and he's not just a great offensive player...he's an ELITE offensive player, one of the best 3 level scoring Centers we've ever seen, if not the best.

To be fair, Towns is playing way better than Siakam and for some reason I still see people putting Siakam at #5 on their MVP lists. Don't @ me with "team wins".

And they could be picking top 10 with him. He's not a serious candidate

Yeah, Siakam is proving that he doesn't belong in the conversation. Last 15 games he's averaged like 23 points and 51 TS%. Trending towards being a full tier below the other candidates (at least)

A serious candidate to win it? Oh boy

That'll be the day. Towns beats out historical seasons by Giannis, Harden, and Luka with a losing record

Towns is having a great year. His 3 pt shooting as a big is incredible. But he'll never ever win it if he has no team success. Who are you trying to fool? Nobody would believe he's an MVP regardless of his sexy advanced stats
