Yeah, Spurs messed up.

Bertans is better than Embiid according to GeorgeMarcus and Embiid is top5 player, and all that just for 7 mil a year.

You act like i don’t know any of that  And it’s obviously he would excel in a fast pace offense , but the guy will get shut down and exposed on the defensive end once the playoffs roll around ..

He also had a hot start last year only for his 3 point % to dip down to 32% after the all start break.

His playoff sample size is pretty small...

Also, SA doesn't use him like the Wizards. They actually run plays for him and he has more confidence/carte blanche to fire away. He's been unreal this year. Underrated passer, too.

I agree with everything you said ,but He’s still unplayable in certain matchups this Is a fact that will never change .

For sure. He's obviously a role player on a contender, who would have the luxury to hide him/sit him need be. But dude is absolutely lights out.

Hopefully the Curry Bros. don't want to do the 3-point contest this year so the league doesn't feel compelled to snub Bertans to protect them, like last season.
I'd rather see the real 3-point champ!

Just got done watching some highlights and holy hell. Hes a 7' SG. Defense doesn't really matter in this day and age so even a slightly below average defender is a plus.

Could he play SF?

It's obvious that the Spurs underutilized him. He has always been a flamethrower. It has never just been the wide open 3s with him. Dumping him was undeniably dumb. They were +10.4 (per100) better with him on the floor last year. They should have found a better way than just shedding this guy and I'm surprised there were no other takers when they decided to dump him. I'm assuming it was a playoff thing, although I don't think it is totally justified.

The playoff concerns are real...... I guess? There is little doubt that Marcus Morris is a useful playoff player with his on ball defense and ability to get buckets in tough situations. I'm sure the defense is tougher in the playoffs on Bertans, but he is a contested shot maker. It might be a mental thing with him with a very short leash and a lack of confidence in him in the playoffs. He has missed some free throws as well. Ultimately, we are only talking about 47 playoff 3 attempts, which is an extremely small sample for the caliber of shooter he is.

Regardless of his playoff shooting and lack of defense, the Spurs were through the roof better with him on the court in the playoffs. Maybe teams paying extra attention to him opens things up for everybody else. His on-off differential in the playoffs was +10.6,+15.0, and +13.1 the last 3 years. The Spurs were not struggling with him on the floor. Maybe it was all garbage time though, I don't know.

He's got the i don't give a f**k 3 point shots. The follow through on his shots are laser beams, it's swoosh straight down fast.

Washington essentially uses him as an SF on offense already, and they crossmatch on defense using Hachimura to guard the other forward position so Bertans has the easier matchup. The easiest way to describe his game = 6'10 Kyle Korver . Apparently he was used as a 2-guard in Europe, then tore his ACL which took away a bit of his athleticism but you can still see the fluidity in how he moves.

Gotta say as a Wiz fan, I severely underrated the Bertans and Mo Wagner pickups. TBH I stereotyped both of them and sort of figured Bertans was just a Steve Novak 2.0 corner three shooter. He has an all-around game , and I think there was a lot in his bag that he wasn't able to show because Pop has a strict system.

Davis will randomly bust out these dribble moves like "wait wtf.. did he just??'

Spurs have been **** up a lot recently and this is another glaring misstep. His presence alone opened up a ton of space for other players on a team with no shooters. The transition from Buford to Wright hasn't gone well.

Liked him on the Spurs and loving his production now. Definitely should have held onto him. Hasn’t he had a bunch of acl reconstructions too? If he keeps balling like this he’ll enter the mip discussion for sure.

Just wanna take this moment to highlight Duncan Robinson as well, as another sharpshooter that deserves recognition alongside Bertans.

10 3's last night.

He used to be SF in Europe, only in NBA he switched to PF fulltime.

Yeah, he tore his ACL twice before even joining NBA. He used to be very athletic.

He single handedly made me tune into Wizards games lately just so I could see what he's up to. He's on an absurd run where everytime a set is run for him he or his team is going to get something positive out of it.

He's on a 300 made threes trajectory. Only Curry/Harden have eclipsed 300. Might be the most exciting role player in the league right now

Not going to lie, had completely forgotten John Wall was still in the league before this post.

As critical as I am of the Spurs, this move was not their fault.

Bertans had plenty of opportunities but was borderline unplayable at times with his terrible D and bonehead decisions.

And based on everything that happened up until the chance to sign Morris, every team would choose Morris.

Also keep in mind Bertans' new team is allowing a league worst 122pts a game.

Sure he is playing really well and is a great guy I'm happy for, but don't overstate his value.

The guy has torn his ACL twice and has 4 fingers in his left hand.Im just happy that his career turned out this way and he'll get paid in the summer.
