Yea the 3-5 type positions and depth really aren't broken. Essentially, besides him just shooting poorly, the biggest issue or thing that made the Niko thing not work is it's tough to play 3 bigs at the same time in today's NBA. Giannis taking 38-40 of the "bigs" minutes in crunch time playoff games. There just isn't much room left there and we have so many other guys to eat up the rest who are good.

Obviously it's tough to call anything "broken" right now but really the one area or position left to upgrade would be another G. Again, the current rotation of guys are doing well so I wouldn't say broken. But that should be the areas to keep an eye on, not another PF. For example, if another George Hill came available. Or, say Beal didn't sign that extension and was demanding a trade now. Then sure, i get it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like too many guys in that area are likely out there. Which is why lots of us started speculating on Redick.

If that’s all it takes that’s a no brainer. Probably not enough.

Again, superstar or nothing. Don’t tinker by moving around ancillary pieces when the chemistry is working this well.

What superstar/s are you thinking?

I get wanting to do nothing (or close to nothing).

That said, if risking chemistry is the issue, it'd be way more disruptive to trade Middleton or Bledsoe or whoever else we'd need to deal to get more of a clear cut superstar.

For instance I'm not sure I trade Bledsoe as part of a package for Jrue Holiday

It would have to be someone off the radar at the moment that maybe requests a trade. Lillard is the guy I keep coming back to but as of now he’s not asking to be dealt. But it would take someone on that level for me to make a move and would likely need a third team that values Middleton highly. So unlikely. Guys like Holiday are nice and all but when I say star it’s not fringe all star type guys. I’m talking all nba level dudes. As stated, not likely so just roll with what he gave.

Last year adding Mirotic was as much about blocking Philly and others from getting him. Side note: it’s alarming how many guys the Bucks have picked up in the last 10-15 years that almost immediately become worthless bench warmers or completely out of the league after their stint (Mirotic, Vasquez, Delfino, Knight, MCW, Mirza)

Not fair lumping Niko in that group. He reportedly had several suitors, most notably Utah, he just either wanted to be back in Milwaukee or back overseas.

You know, if you wanted to catch up with NBA news on ESPN.com or NBA.com, you'd have no idea that the Bucks were any good unless you looked at the standings. Nope, nothing to see here except a 16-game winning streak and what-not.

Hey man I read an article about how awesome the lakers were over their winning strength. They have so many things we don't.

Those AD - Giannis matchups had been some of the best. It’s been sometime since we’ve seen one and Giannis has improved immensely. But they still should be must watch. I’m looking forward to seeing it again. Hopefully Giannis and the Bucks come out on top. Should be really good thou. AD is the one player in the world that can matchup with Giannis. Which makes it so special. IMO

David Aldridge:

What will Bertāns commandeer on the open market? Opinions vary. “He will get between $15M and $20M (per year) this summer.” the former front office person said. “Most likely for a two-year deal. Don’t see him getting a four-year deal.” But a current GM didn’t agree. “He will not get 20M,” the GM texted. “(There’s) only six teams with space.”

To be fair, I would have loved to have Nikola on the team again this year too. I'd gladly take my chances on his shooting in the Toronto series being a fluke and I think he was probably a better all-around player than Bertans.

I know it’s not apples to apples, but this is why I don’t want to **** with our roster at all (besides small changes). Here is what Golden State did to rise to a dynasty.

2009-2010 – Drafted Curry. Missed playoffs.
2010-2011 – Traded for David Lee. Missed playoffs.
2011-2012 – Drafted Klay Thompson. Traded Ellis, Brown, Udoh for Bogut. Missed Playoffs.
2012-2013 – Signed Barnes, drafted Ezeli and Draymond Green. Made playoffs, lost in 2nd round.
2013-2014 – Signed Iguodala, Speights. Made playoffs, lost in 1st round.
2014-2015 – Fired Mark Jackson, hired Steve Kerr. Signed Livingston, Barbosa. Won NBA Finals.
2015-2016 – Lost NBA Finals.
2016-2017 – Signed KD. Let Ezeli, Barnes, Speights. Traded Bogust & picks. Won NBA Finals.

I won’t continue any longer, but in my mind they did it right. They found their core and stuck with it, even after a tough couple of seasons. They added role players and drafted some great players and worked their way to the championship.

I don’t see why the Bucks can’t do this with the core they have assembled now. I get that it’s a different time and the landscape of the NBA has changed. But we’ve done all the right moves. Drafted Giannis, traded for Khris, Bledsoe and Hill. Drafted DDV and Brown, signed Brook, Wes, Korver, Ersan and others. Hired Bud. We then went on to win 60 games and fell 2 games short of going to the finals. I’m not touching the main parts of the roster for the next couple of years, Khris and Bledsoe included.
Make those incremental trades if we can (ex. Hill) and see what happens while you have the greatest player we’ve seen in years on our team.

Guys I would be interested to trade:

1. Lillard
2. Beal (ok next season)
3. KAT

That said I think I'm not interested in any borderline starter (not even borderline all star) to trade at this point. Jrue, Bogdan, Gallo, Bertans are all fine, but none moves the needle at this team. If a true star becomes available Milwaukee should go for it, if not just stick with this team and keep your assets.

I really dont think you need to make a move for this team to win an NBA championship.

We really dont have the young assets we can afford to trade.. other than Bender, but i'd prefer to keep him too because really we wouldnt get anything for him anyways.

The Bucks have built quite an interesting 1-16. Their young guys on the bench have suppressed values because the team is so freaking good, they dont get to showcase what they can do as much. So come extention time, they could be strong values as re-signings.

When guys like Robin, Wes, Ersan, Hill start to come off the books naturally, then those dollars shift to DDV, Wilson, Bender (if he manages to stay on the team), Brown (dont see him being a part of the future though).

The Bucks are in a really good talent management space going forward. It's just looks like natural plug and plays to me.. plus with Indiana's FRP and a few 2nds, we can reload with end of the bench talent to develop all over again.

Is there a guy on the roster that these guys dont enjoy playing with? Doesnt seem like there is a bad apple at all... so odd in the NBA to have such a cohesive group.

That would require trading Bledsoe or Middleton. While im all for trading Middleton, because I dont trust him come playoff time.. and i hate that contract, I dont know if we have assets Portland wants or that we want to trade.

I honestly dont know if a ball dominant guy is something we need around giannis. Giannis is our ball dominant guy. Two might be too many. Bledsoe is doing a workman-like job. Middleton for all his flaws doesnt have a usage rate that takes the ball out of Giannis's hands.

The Pacers pick is the main asset the Bucks can't afford to be flippant about keeping for the future.

If there is a trade scenario where we could cash it in for a better shot at winning a ring --- and extending Giannis -- we should take it extremely seriously.

Our team doesn't have many holes so maybe there is not a deal that makes sense.

But if there is one, I wouldn't bank on Giannis' good graces if we fall short in the playoffs while other teams traded all available assets going all out to win it all.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
