You need to read everything instead of just conveniently cherry-picking sentence fragments.
DeRozan is not a 2 way player in any shape or form. I was conceding the fact that Luke isn't great in this area either. But you conveniently ignored EVERYTHING ELSE about the comparison: Age difference, how much they are paid, and the fact that what Luke excels at translates well in today's game.
Hamilton focused on 2 pt shots because the game of basketball back then was played differently than it is now; and plays for Detroit were designed with that play style in mind. Today's game is focused much more on maximizing efficiency; which includes three-point shooting. If you play Hamilton's style in today's NBA you will lose.
For the same reason above, saying that Derozan + Drummond + Blake is okay because back in 2004 we had a 'similar' duo of Rasheed and Ben with Hamilton is largely irrelevant. The game is played differently now.
I'll make this short for you buddy. This whole thing about translating into today's game is a bogus argument. As said earlier, Philly's spacing isn't that great but they're still a competitive team that wins games because of there defense. That's Piston basketball. Not shooting 3pters all day like we're the SVG's Magic.
And I'm not saying Demar is a beast defensively, I just know he's way better than Luke and would make us better now. (My bad for edits, I'm lifting weights and posting at the same time, lol)
I'll make this even shorter for you: Demar DeRozan doesn't play defense.
So he wouldn't fit your definition of Piston basketball in any stretch of the word.
Even shorter. Demar plays better defense then your boy Kennard!
