He is -17 tonight at halftime.

That's a differential of -16.8 per game.
At some point this turns into a Scott Brooks is about to be fired thread

Not enjoying the team anymore?

Honestly, I enjoyed the games I watched with all this season's players healthy. Their offense can be a joy to behold.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

This is rich coming form the same person who, when Rui has a good game, brings up Rui's bad games. Clarke is in a good situation, and the Grizzlies limit his role to what he does well. I know some people on this forum insist on tearing down Rui and elevating Clarke, but they are two very different players.

You are right -- they are two very different players. Rui is still a chrysalis; he has to grow before he's going to be good. Right now, Clarke is far far better. &, of course, he too is a rookie, so he will develop.

There is no need to, & no reason to, tear down Rui. He's not playing well; is it going to help Rui to ignore the fact. His good outings show that he has potential; the more regularly they come the more he'll be establishing himself in the league.

The real problem isn't anything I say about Rui. The real problem is to think that it's doing Rui some kind of favor to downgrade Clarke. It isn't.

Can we stop acting like Troy Brown didn't get benched for Isaac Bonga? I think everyone's excited he's been playing better the past couple weeks but the criticism wasn't out of thin air.

Yeah it was. Pretty much. You invented it.

Because, you know, after all... Troy gets almost 30% more defensive boards than an average NBA wing. & he gets more than twice as many offensive boards as an average wing. Oh, and 35% more assists. While turning the ball over a little less than average. & getting 70% more steals. & committing @27% fewer fouls -- while playing solid defense.

But, what does all that mean, right? After all, per 40 minutes the 20 year old Troy Brown, just having passed his first 1000 minutes in the league, scores 2.5 fewer points than an average NBA wing. Posting a TS% that is 2 percentage points below average.

What a bum, huh? I mean... a lot of people could miss that. Or be distracted by those other meaningless numbers. So it's good to have an expert around who can see how bad Troy has played. After all: what do numbers mean anyway? Especially compared to what your eye test delivers. You know... that he's tentative dribbling or something like that. Right?

Never came close to calling him a bum. You can scroll through the Troy Brown thread and see the praise I've given him. But you seem to be the only one that doesn't think TB was going through a slump, and your only way to explain you position is numbers.

Do you actually watch the games? If so can you speak on his play and how it led to Bonga taking the starting spot from him? Brooks thought it was better to start a player that stands in the corner and does nothing over Troy Brown. But yea numbers... Anyway I'm glad Troy Brown is playing well, hope he keeps it up.

Nothing to argue about here, Seph. We're both glad he's playing well. &... I could have toned down my rhetoric! :)

As to numbers, that's how you judge whether a guy is playing well or not. It ain't a fashion show. Now... if he's somehow negatively affecting other guys' numbers, then that would factor in.

OTOH, I don't care what Brooks is doing; it doesn't tell me much. He was playing CJ Miles when the guy was using 4.5 more possessions than Troy to score 3 more points.

To me, all that matters in re: Brown is that he get at 2000 minutes this year.

Peace!
