Mavs killed the Lakers streak and now the Bucks streak, lol.
Who could have seen this coming.
I think the Mavs were streak-killers in 2011 as well. Not saying the season are related or anything...

Good God I am glad that is over.
Great win, a nice little treat for the day.

Key takeaway - for as long as we are without Luka, KP needs to close out games. It isn't over until it's over.

Good win. KP and Seth are rounding into form.

No idea why Rick went on a suicide mission in the end and matched the Bucks small lineup instead of playing our best player and forcing our style. That almost ended up very costly.

Haha yeah, they missed Doncic in the clutch a lot. Next games are going to be really tough playing like this.

Never good idea to tempt fate. Don't mention wins until they're locked up.

Very poor effort from that close out group. Brunson, Seth, Jackson, Delon, DFS and Powell/Kleber toggling back & forth.

Budenholzer planned on sitting Giannis the rest of the way. The fact he got back in the game was bad business.

That Brunson out-of-bounds TO damn near snatched defeat from the hands of victory. Smh.

Mavs have a lot to learn, but good win. This stretch without Luka should be helpful for getting guys in the groove. Especially KP. 2 very close games in this east coast run so far.

I can't even begin to fathom why they just let Giannis waltz in for dunks. Foul his ass & send him to the line. If I'm Budenholzer, I'm putting Giannis back into the game there just for him to get those extra reps at the free throw line when they (might) matter i.e. when you can't miss or it means the game is probably over.

The Mavs didn't even bother try & foul or really do much to block his path to the basket. So afraid they'd foul & he'd get the And'1.

You can't play scared like that. Unless you're Steph Curry at the free throw line & don't have to worry about misses.

On a more annoying note of the night - the Spurs coughed up a 20+ point lead and lost to the Rockets.
Rockets are just lurking right behind the Mavs...

KP with a dominant performance tonight, finally looking much more comfortable on offense.
And how did he only have 2 blocks? Happens every 2nd night where I feel like he blocked 4 or 5 and they give him 2 on the box score.

Brunson with 11 assists is an amazing sign for the future. He was much more in control today.

I also hope DFS continues to play like this. Luka relies on his corner spacing a lot plus he brings so much energy and toughness to the team.

I'll say this. A win is a win is a win is a WIN. And the Mavs got the WIN!!!

Unreal. That MIA loss hurt. This MIL win, which let's be honest... the Mavs played well, but MIL lost this one. MIL played horrible!

But, I'll take it!

If we somehow pull out another win in this 5 game stretch. 2-3 vs the Top 5 teams in the East without Luka? Yes, please!

Yeah I noticed that too. I think somebody got into Brunson's ear after the MIA game.

Brunson still has a lot to work on. You don't want to take away his pitbull-level aggression totally, but his situational awareness needs to improve. I don't know what that late game TO was about. Totally unnecessary. You don't need to make a play there. Just hold the ball & let them foul.

I think Brunson plays at an ABC level. He makes the basic plays, he's not a great ballhandler or passer. He's adequate. He is great in ISO and bodying up 6'7 & shorter players in the midrange & post areas. I don't see 11 assists as some sing for the future, though. He lacks court vision. He's 6-1. You can tell. He misses open teammates too often for me to feel like he could potentially grow into a starting PG for the Mavs. Hopefully he continues to develop & solidify a 2nd unit role. Because it was concerning to see his rookie year which was great & then watch him get inconsistent minutes off the bench to start the year.

DFS was superb. Quality, tough minutes on def tonight & actually gave Giannis a couple of difficult possessions. I feel like he really took the we all gotta step our game up with Luka out to heart. KP & Seth too. Delon Wright too. That was phenomenal for Delon after missing a few games & not seeing the court much at all vs MIA.

He couldn't post up Marcus Smart. :noway:
Dirk would have taken his lunch money.

He's not a big. He's 7-3 Kyle Korver.

4/8 3PM tonight had a season of 39.5% on 3PM, his last year with NYK.

He's not Dirk. He's not Embiid. He just isn't.

i agree with this a bit.. he just isnt gonna be comfortable with contact.
However the flipside to it is he HAS to take advantage of mismatches otherwise you give the opponents the confidence that they are doing the right thing in containing KP. Like in this game alone... did you guys see him being guarded by a 33yr old 190lbs George Hill and he wasnt able to capitalize on it.
Bottomline for me is there has to be a balance, he just cant jack up threes and also dont force post ups as well.

Yeah, I'm actually reading through the Bucks' forum game thread right now & they were talking about KP passing out of a post up with George Hill guarding him.

It's actually kinda funny to read, just the game thread in general. Cussing out Sterling Brown, complaining about officiating against the Bucks, being mad the Mavs are making so many 3s (feel like they don't know we're a very good 3 point shooting team), and a lot of posts about Porzingis being soft.

Here's the deal on this.

A) I agree with you Bluelabel24, but I'm not going to hold it against KP until I start seeing it post ASB. And, fwiw, if you look back at Hayward & PG-13's game logs after their injuries. They did not return to their dominant, consistent selfs for a solid year plus after returning to the court, and they were pretty subpar for the first 4-5 months back. So, KP is already exceeding expectations, as far as I'm concerned. But, come March, if he still is taking rushed 3s, girly little twist away fadeaways like he's scared the defender has cooties & they might brush off on him, then yeah I'm going to start ripping into him BIG TIME. But, for now I'm giving him some latitude.

B) Look at Justin Jackson. Does anyone expect him to be some big dominant post player? Nope. But if he were 6 inches taller, everyone would expect those 6 inches to translate to Shaquille O'Neal in the post & around the basket. That's insane.

KP is a very tall wing. Just because he's tall doesn't not mean he'll dominate in the post. You have to accept that. You just do. I don't want to change KP. I love the floor spacing, I love the help defense. I really love the help defense. I love the putbacks & we're starting to see him put the ball on the floor & get by his man. That's incredible for his size! I got no qualms with KP.

Now, come March, we'll see.

I am super happy they won, but we have to be honest. Dallas had a good shooting night and Bucks had a terrible one in general and that was the difference. Never the less they did well and surprised me/us

Even if they lose all the future ones till Luka get's back they have done their part as far as I am concerned

Dream scenario. Mavs/Rockets are 4/5 and we send their asses home in the 1st round. It's doable.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
