Its a 2 year deal, had TJ surgery in September so most likely not gonna pitch this up coming season, its just an insurance and depth move or could be used in a trade.

He had TJS a couple of months ago. This is one of those two-year mutual comfort contracts for a rehabbing, well-respected man in the Yankees organization.

So what's next?
We test the Samson theory with another long haired flame thrower at the peak of his excellence?

It's clear that Cashman is trying to set the Yankees up so that they have a foundation for a long time to come and won't have to worry about losing anyone else to free agency once the anticipated new collective bargaining agreement in 2021 increases the tax levels and salaries spike up even further as a result.
You add 25 year old Hader as the long term closer with Cole and Severino heading your starters and you're set with the foundation of your pitching roster.
Who would close? Chapman or Hader?

The problem baseball in general has is that it is dominated by conservative racist culture. I have a lot of contacts in the league, many of which are access to private social media accounts, and it's predominantly conservatives, Trump supporters, and "come and take 'em" types. For me personally if you keep it to yourself then I can try to just enjoy the sport. But if you're brazen/stupid enough to say something, or simply get your own history on social media pulled, then I have difficulty maintaining the mirage that I'm just here to watch baseball. Trevor Bauer makes it easy for me. The rest of the league that does a great job as chameleons are more difficult.
I mean, Mariano is a huge Trump supporter and loves what he's doing. Conservatism is basically the way of life in MLB.

What's your opinion on this? This goes for everyone who doesn't want Hader cause he's made racist statements against blacks.

Cause this apparently happens A LOT (among professional athletes). Not a problem cause guys like Gurriel isn't a white and/or the target of his racism isn't black? No right? The point is that I think racism is a lot more prevalent than folks think and that it's not just white on black.
For anyone that thinks the slant eye gesture isn't racist (and mind boggling as it sounds, I've heard and read A LOT of people say it's not and its just "for fun"), I can most definitely guarantee you that over 2 billion people will agree that the gesture that Gurriel made was most definitely racist. Heck, people on this very board has said in the past that they're just joking.
So if we are going to call Hader out, we will need to be calling a lot of other players out. Or is it the whole steroid thing where our issue isn't whether the player himself is racist but whether he's been caught being racist?
Now I'm by no means saying Hader isn't a racist or what he said was just a joke. Just pointing out that if we have to turn away anyone that has done anything that would be considered racist by anyone else we may not have many players to work with.

Yeah, there's some double standards.
Also, on the one hand, every teenager isn't a racist, but teenagers do some really dumb sh*t. So, definite mixed feelings on Hader, but I'd be ok if the Yanks did some due diligence and if he checked out ok, then he's ok.
I mean, no sense doing John Rocker 2.0
