Batum out fourth game in a row, Cody Martin taking Batum's minutes, team wins 4 out of 5.

Coincidence?

I think not!

Yeah, I think that ship has just about sailed. At this point we're probably only going to be able to tumble down to the 7th-worst record at 'best' and even that would probably take a long losing streak. There are just too many teams that are legitimately terrible (Knicks, Cavs) and teams that are shamelessly punting to next season (NOP, GSW) for the Hornets to leapfrog.

The only silver lining I have for you is that the new lotto is designed to make it very probable that at least one or more 30+ win team jumps into the top 4 every year. There's no guarantee our effort will be rewarded by the lotto gods but being worst is no longer a clear path to a great pick either.

Honestly as long as we don't trade the pick for Love/Drummond or something similarly short-sighted I really don't mind. Next year's draft looks good and I have confidence in Mitch.

I have not heard this is a good draft. I've heard the opposite. There are no game changers.

And our trajectory points to improvement. Nearly every player has improved (some more than others) including vets like Biz and Zeller. Marvin is having a great season. Rozier is putting up better numbers than any of his previous seasons. Graham is Most Improved Player.

This is a young team coming together with upside. We're far more likely to trend towards a non-lotto pick than to implode and hope for a bailout from a game changer that doesn't exist.

Not saying we should trade out of this draft but I'd say it's more likely than a top 10 pick at this point.

I think we may actually make the playoffs. The young guys are hungry and the East is awful after the top 6.

My favorite part of the game was in the 2nd qtr when JB went with a line up for a little while of:
Rozier - Thing #1 - MKG - Marv - Biz

A line up with Thing #1, MKG, Marv and Biz in together is 100% energy and effort 100% of the time. I loved it.

Almost no FGA's in a full half for Tae until he took/hit some late in the 2nd qtr. *Is his confidence starting to take a hit, or are defenses REALLY starting to work him out? That said, even when he is not finding or making his shots his passing is such a pleasure to watch and he brings tremendous value there.
*And then the 4th qtr happened and Tae delivered the Golden Shower....

Nice to see Bridges drive the ball better using more compact and explosive moves Vs that off balance over the shoulder BS he's been trying of late.

No PT for Bake? Hmmmmmmm. Fair to say Thing #1 is now getting all that PT? Going to be interesting to see what happens when Bats comes back.

How many bad screens did Biz set? Doesn't seem usual for him. He normal sets pretty hard, clean screens. Was that on him, or the guards?

I am shocked - SHOCKED - at how much I enjoy Thing #1. I was super p*ssed when we drafted him missing out on Fernando and passing on Gafford, but Thing #1 is now one of my favorite players on the roster.

Fox. Hield. Bagley. Barnes. I feel like the Kings should be much better than they are.

Fox's first game back after injury. Kings will be fine going forward I think.

That was probably Malek's best game as a pro. He was extremely active and didn't settle for tough shots. He still can't shoot for crap but his quickness and athletic ability really causes teams problems when he's determined to drive the ball. Well done.
