Knicks Hire David Blatt as Basketball Ops Consultant

It sounds like Mills is hiring someone to do his job. Even Mills knows he is useless.

But i am not even sure how qualified Blatt is for this position. I am sure he knows the game, but no front office experience and very little NBA experience....and then never know if he is just waiting to take over for Miller which can be a distraction.

Another thing..
why announce this hiring? If Blatt is helping Mills - that's fine and totally normal. Executives solicit outside opinions all the time.
Its an obvious power move by Mills.
Shows everyone he's still the boss.

Mill's role in every variation of our front office has been execution. He was never relied on for his basketball mind.
To me - this move is throwing Perry under the bus.
He was in charge of bringing the vision of how this team plays and what type of players to acquire.

I was initially a little worried because a move like this obviously there will be rumors and people will think it's sabotaging the interim coach while he's barely getting his feet wet. But if you think about it if they really wanted Blatt to be the coach wouldn't they have done that immediately as soon as Fizdale was fired?

Blatt has retired from coaching due to MS.

I think he's genuinely here for the FO. I just don't understand what he's supposed to do.

I think Perry could definitely use some help in terms of building a roster and roster cohesion. But is Blatt the guy for that? Typical head scratching awkward move from the Knicks, lol.

Another move by Mills to keep his job. Until Mills is gone, this team will never succeed. There is no unity here. There is Allan Houston side and Mills side. People are all job preservation mode. Mills sabotaged the team just to make sure he didn’t get someone who will threaten his job. He will do it again. It truly sucks to be a Knicks fan. Our own FO does not care about winning. It is all about their jobs.

Mills reminds of the guy in group projects that shows up to every meeting, but offers nothing but fluff.

It seems like they just brought a buddy along. I didn't want anything that could possibly undermine MIller. That could be really toxic in a media market like NYC.
