People keep saying this is Mills trying to save his Job. It looks more like to me is that Mills is moving AWAY From his job. The worst thing Mills could do to save his Job is to show that he needs "Help" This Blatt Hiring is Highlighting that some form of Help is needed. You dont show that your trying to save your Job by hiring Blatt. It actually makes you Look worse in the Grand Scheme of things. Blatt will have no impact on the team playing so it does nothing for mills. Mills is prob going to be sent to the somewhere in MSG and this is just preparation which in that sense is a good hire for the role. Blatt will not take over operations even when Mills is gone.

you guys really don't understand. after we fired donnie walsh, he was a consultant. after we fired grunwald, he was a consultant. after we fired clarence gaines, he was a consultant. it's a job with no real power. this is just a friend looking out for another friend who got sick. it's not a soap opera plot.

I’m not sure what everyone is so upset about. He is a consultant. He does have a good basketball mind and Euro connections. He was also brought into Cleveland to be a great development coach. That changes when Lebron returned and the team became a win now team. We all agree David Griffin is not a fool and he hired Blatt first. I think this is a good thing.

The way I'm reading it is he's in a similar role that Jerry West is in with the Clippers. Essentially an advisor to Mills and Perry.

Bullsht. This is Steve Mills flexing. He just convinced Dolan to write a paycheck to a friend in his Rolodex.

The timing sure makes it looks like Dolan is casting a public vote of confidence in Mills.

This is the precursor to Mills legitimizing upcoming roster moves.

“Well David Blatt approved, so it must be a smart move (that came from Mills).”

Also, if we go full Evil Mills, it's another layer to absorb blame.

Mills: "That trade was Blatt's idea. I thought the guy still had it but that MS must have messed him up. You should fire him Jim. You're the best. What date is the summer BBQ this year in the Hamptons?"
