This move is just another shield for Mills. If Miller keeps the team cooking like this everyone will forget about management come this offseason. The snake will slither away unscathed again.
I’m not sure Mills was ever in danger. Might’ve been a rumor started by Isola.
With enough media and fan pressure, Dolan would have no choice. But if things look like they are turning around (new coach, winning team, new FO source) the Fire Mills movement will slow down and he will keep his job.
Unfortunately in NY, fans are extremely short sighted

The first question Blatt should tell Mills: "Why the hell did you sign 4 power forwards and no true backup center?"

The way I'm reading it is he's in a similar role that Jerry West is in with the Clippers. Essentially an advisor to Mills and Perry.

He’s not coaching anymore, has nothing to do with coaching

Bullsht. This is Steve Mills flexing. He just convinced Dolan to write a paycheck to a friend in his Rolodex.
The timing sure makes it looks like Dolan is casting a public vote of confidence in Mills.
This is the precursor to Mills legitimizing upcoming roster moves.
