Yeah I have a feeling people will enjoy the Dru Hill Xmas album more than the regular stuff. On a side note, here is the best version of Baby it's cold outside:

Figured I'd get these in before the 2020 version. Any Devin the Dude or People Under the Stairs fans here? Both of their releases this year, P.U.T.S final album albeit, are very solid. With that being said - Sincerely, the P by People Under the Stairs wins my super unimportant album of the year award.

Inadequate perception I reckon it's from the Valium

Okay, in the future if you were to look back and daydream fondly of music you listened to in 2019 what would be the one song that'd be the theme tune? Doesn't have to be released in 2019, just one song that will give you happy memories of this year.

In the charred wasteland of my mind grapes, "Storyline Fever" by Purple Mountains is the most 2019 song.

I’m picking ‘Just Dumb Enough to Try’ by Father John Misty. According to Apple Music it was my #3 played song of 2019. The second half of that song resonates with a part of me deeply.

Probably Bad Guy by Billie cause this is the year my youngest started finding her musical tastes and went to her concert. Now she's going through some emo pop backlog including Panic and My Chemical Romance.

Yours?

It's a toss up between two older songs, but I'd say my daydreaming of 2019 song was The Repudiated Immortals from Of Montreal's pretty wonderful Sunlandic Twins album. I love, love, love Kevin Barnes and this song puts me in a meditative state.

The chorus is just beautiful and loving;

But don't, don't lose hope,
no no no no no no no
Don't feel sad
'cause it's a violent world
But there's still beauty
I'll take care of you if you take care of me

That's great, it's awesome when they find their music and you get to pick up on bits and pieces of it. Thanks to my son I learnt that The Voidz (Julian Casablancas' side project) are actually pretty great. :)

I'm a victim of irrepressible recency bias with music. With that in mind I give you not only the theme of 2019 but in-fact, also the best song ever:

I don't know most of this since I stopped listening after Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, but it's still a super cool video.

One of those bits of news (like Daniel Johnston) where I'm not even that huge of fan but I know there's just no way to replace the loss. Singular.

Like when I watch or listen to him, my main thought is that I wish I was as good at anything as he is at that.

I'm going through a Rush playlist right now. He was magical.
