...making stupid assumptions and jumping to conclusions.

To put things in perspective, A-Rod is hitting like .150 over his past 3 playoff series, just over .200 since he joined the Yankees.

Speaking in general about the tendency people have; to assume that past transgressions = future transgressions.

Unfortunately GYBE is right Soriano is always booed in the playoffs, I remember my Met fans cheering when he came up to bat.

If we've learned anything about Soriano he tries to hard. Last night and the first month of the season is a good example of this.

He means well but he just gets too aggressive and doesn't relax, or whatever it is.

Maybe batting him in the 5 hole would work out since on most occasions he can get the blood going, get warmed up before he even sees his first at bat.

If we were talking about any team BUT the Yankees, I might be more likely to follow the same train of thought, but I cannot, because they're still the Yankees.

Look at A-Rod's postseason numbers with Seattle and then NY.

A-Rod played well in 2004, it's just the past two series he's struggled. He's at least proven he can perform in the playoffs in the past. Alfonso's had one great series, one slightly below average one and five horrible ones.

It's no guarentee he'll be awful in the playoffs, but it doesn't inspire much confidence.

A-Rod had back-to-back really good playoff appearences... i have to agree with gybe with everything..

I would say that he's only played "well" in one series, his first one with them, against the Twins (a team they could've steamrolled w/o his production).

Unless you're counting his numbers against BOS, and those aren't great...particularly if you couple those with the fact that the Yankees at one point led that series 3-0, and well, the rest is history.

Now true, by no means does it inspire confidence, but I'm certainly not going to be short-sighted and immediately assume he's doomed to fail (Soriano or A-Rod for that matter).
