Kristaps Porzingis Is Ridiculously Overrated

Post#1 » by Feel_the_Heat15 » Sat Dec 21, 2019 8:32 pm

Seriously, lets stop deluding "ourselves" into thinking that a player that has a TS% of 53 over the last 8 games is carrying a team on his back or something. The Mavericks are winning because of many different players and Porzingis barely has anything to do with that winning. Put Porzingis on the Pistons and lets see how much winning they do.

Who said porzingis was carrying us? Luka has only been out 4 games so why include the last 8 to begin with? His scoring and weakside defense has been nice lately but we arent being carried, he is an anchor defensively tho

According to basketball reference, Porzinigis On-Off for this season is actually at -3.3 thus far, meaning teams outscore the Mavs by 3.3 points per 100 possessions more when he is on the court as opposed to off the court.

No he’s not. People been saying how bad he is all season.

Also there’s more to player evaluation that ts%

He’s had a long layoff. We need to give him more time.

Seems to me like the generally non educated consensus is that he is spoiled goods/another bust/doesn’t have the mentality to learn, grow or succeed at the ripe young age of whatever he is.

Who exactly is this thread even oriented at? A few other bipolar opinions in the opposite direction calling him a goat for holding the fort down while Lukas out?

I said "or something". Also, isn't it likely that Porzingis is just a better shooter when he's the #1 option on the court?

Is anyone claiming him to be carrying the team? Also there are two sides of the ball, KP has been a huge plus on the defensive side.

Good lord. KP has been everything we could have expected. His rim protection and shot blocking have completely transformed the Mav's defense. After missing almost 2 years of action his offense is a work in progress, but he's shown flashes of pretty amazing potential. What's surprised me the most though is his rebounding. Much better than expected.

Name me one great offensive player that has a TS% lower than 54.

That has nothing to do with anything I said.

How did TS% become an ultimate decider on whos good and whos not? I've seen it from a bunch of people. .They just throw it out, and think its over..

The Mavericks are an average defensive team...He might be a great rim protector but he doesn't do much else defensively.

How are you going to talk about how many points he puts up not care much about how efficiently he does it? It's over because he does nothing else offensively.

Yeah, he had an awful net-rating first 10~ games or so.

In the last 15 games, his net-rating is +17.0.

Only Luka's is higher. (+18.1)

Classic topic.

OP makes idea up --- usually false. Then argues against that fictional reality (KP hasn't been getting ridiculously overrated). And worse... makes no compelling case, unless TS% is the end of all for basketball discussions.

There's more to evaluation than a TS%. How about KP's ability to stretch the floor? Or that he's 9th in RPM wins among PF's?

Poor thread
